Mainly because there was no marketing for it. At all. Just like the first two games.

The series is good, but you think they would have learned their lesson the first time.

shenmue was never meant for the short attention span gamer. given its been nearly 20 years since the last one and how short attention span gamers make up even more of the gaming base now, 3 was never going to be a top selling title.

Once everyone becomes complacent and starts building up huge game libraries on EGS, they're going to crowdfund the next big one and then sell out to whatever shitty new client is released at that point.

other narative driven games do just fine they just remember to you know actually tell a story
