In your opinion?






In terms of my favorite I'd probably go

Railroad > BoS > Institute > Minutemen.

In terms of good for the Wasteland within the plot I'd go

Minutemen > BoS > Institute > Railroad

In terms of writing quality I'd go

BoS > Railroad > Minutemen > Institute.

i went with the minutemen in my playthrough and really regretted that choice, they feel like a cop-out.

ideologically the brotherhood is the right faction imo but they're all assholes

Well they kind of are a cop out

They exist as a back up in case you wiped out all the other 3 to make the game still able to beat

See it's interesting that you say that because I think ideologically the Railroad are right.

But they have no plan and aren't based in reality so it's hard to support them.

The BoS' logic of "Let's kill all ghouls, synths and Supermutants, even intelligent friendly ones, then hoard all technology in a big hole" seems pretty idealogically harmful and pointless.

Railroad by far. Tinker Tom gives that sweet ballistic mesh, plus the characters are interesting. Bonus points for having Ivanova from Babylon 5 as the leader.

The Brotherhood have become fascists. Plus, the leader is only supposed to be about 22 years old but looks like this grizzled old man (bad job Bethesda).

The Institute could have been interesting, but they're far too evil & Shaun is a manipulative asshole.

And I'll never vote for the Minutemen because Preston is an annoying dumbass.

i felt like the railroad was too naive, especially when you find out that the institute/syths are real and exactly like people describe.

if you look at the game world in context it's pretty awful, there's ghouls and mutants and shit kiling everyone, and when someone does get tech they do sketchy shit like the institute does. better to wipe em all out.

ultimately though I fell for the same trap I always fall into in games like this (wanting to please everyone and pick the "best" choice) and i ended up siding with the minutemen, which i thought was a very lame way to finish the game because they only exist as an endgame choice for dweebs like me that dont want to fuck anything up

I never finished fallout 4 because none of them were good enough to side with but there are mods now that make it more New Vegas-y where you can convince them all to get along or wipe them all out so I'm excited to play that way kinda soon, gotta finish my load order still

I thought the whole memory wipe aspect of the Railroad made that whole faction just unbelievably stupid. How many lives did they fuck up by programming synths to not know they were synths? And as far as robots go, what is the functional difference between replacing their entire identity/life/memories or just killing them? The synth you release into the world isn't the one that was freed, it just has the same body. There literally is no point.

Strong horse looks even stronger when your other options are an Institute of science that doesn't actually make any sense, a bunch of naive optimistic dinks who seem to forget they are living in a post-apocalypse, and a ragtag bunch of militiamen who don't actually do anything but annoy you with shitty radiant missions.

Project Valkyrie is the big one that affects that stuff, but I picked up every quest mod linked to it as well, I think those are Depravity, Outcasts and Remnants (which is required for PV), Fusion City Rising, and uh... There was one or two more I think. Supposed to add 60+ hours of content altogether. All fully voiced too.

I like the Brotherhood the most, since they actually get things done, and are out living in the apocalypse instead of hiding or doing stupid crap (remember Tinker Tom's 802343 radio placement missions?) that barely benefits anyone. The Minutemen do feel like a cop-out, though, I agree. Best to just forget about 'em since they're bit players on the Boston stage.

In terms of reward, though, I go Railroad all the time for ballistic mesh. They're not that great ideologically or anything, but in a casual playthrough, I tend to side with them the most. It's pretty easy to find 'em without advancing the plot, which is a plus.

Not really.

If you blow up the Bos or Institute with no evacuation then you kill kids. I think the railroad is the only place that doesn't have kids
