(seriously though, the game does have a lot of content, pretty fun, played through two of the routes, CF and AM, so far).

I played through Blue Lions and didn't really feel much desire to play through on the other routes.

It was enjoyable, but it felt like certain parts were a real mess. From what I've read, it seems like they could've ditched the Golden Deer route and just done the Crimson Flower and Azure Moon routes and roll the Golden Deer stuff into those routes.

It just seems like Claude is definitely the third wheel when Dimitri and Edelgard actually had some shit going on between them.

Well, there is also the 4th route, but I don't know. GD and Claude in general is sort of the "I don't wanna side with either of these nutcases" pick. He's the only one who doesn't seem to lose it after the timeskip.

To be fair, when you pick a House, you don't know anything about Dimitri or Edelgard and their trauma.

If i had made the game, I'd have designed it so that you don't make the choice of who to side with until the big twist before the time skip.

Dimitri and Edel have their own spat. Claude is the only one who's trying to do something much larger. He's also like 5 times the better general than Dimitri and Edel ever were lmao. He won with basically not even having half the support of his own nation in his route. He's also the only one who's working based on facts and progress, unlike Edel who wages an entire war on a false premise, as in the Church were never the bad guys considering they held a thousand year of peace, and Dimitri who pretty much only cares about revenge and doesn't matter who gets hurt for him to achieve it.

Basically Claude is the classic FE protag, and he breaks Fodlan's society in the best way. His ending is the good ending. It's really the other endings that are the what-ifs imo

Sure, but once you play through one route, that might be your justification for choosing GD later. Also, from the sounds of it, if any routes should have been combined, people argue the church and GD route should have been it, not GD with the others. Each has their own take, and CF and AM felt so different that I am sure GD will be satisfying too. Plus, Claude seems cool, so I'm sure he'll be a fun character.

I'd argue that Edelgard was working for the bigger picture too, maybe just not in what is seen as a good way. Dimitri wasn't really a focus of hers, it was more of a one-sided rivalry. Her ending, though, still made it seem like society could move on for the better. It's just a question of if you think the ends justify the means of getting there. Going in blind, it was kind of cool joining the "bad" guy right off the gate.

I played FE7, but never beat it, got stuck on a chapter after letting too many good characters die I believe. Basically, even if Claude is the standard FE hero character, he will still be fresh to me, so I'm excited.

I don't know about that. Dimitri felt like a classic FE lord once he gets over his temporary dark period.

But I would note that his route did have a few too many hints at ulterior plot lines that never get resolved in his route. Like, they make note of TWSITD and they make a brief appearance, but their BS is never resolved satisfactorily. Same with the Church of Seiros, Sothis, Nemesis, etc stuff.

I guess that's why I think the game suffers for being split into so many routes. I wish we had seen two bigger routes that cover more of the same plot lines from opposing perspectives.

Yeah, the church and GD routes probably should've been combined, if they really wanted to stick with 3 lord options.

I know it doesn't really matter at this point, but I just think splitting into 3, let alone 4, routes was too much. It's less that each route approaches the same conflict from different perspectives than each route has sharply different conflicts.

Which would be fine, but it seemed like each route was weaker because so much content gets divided.

The whole show this year is set up to be a Kojima jock riding fest. All Doritos Pope's will is bent on it.

I don't know if I'll even watch. The Oscar of Gaming is so lame anyways, and since I doubt SSBU will win the Best Game, I don't really have much interest in that category. But yeah, Kojima is going to be praised to high heaven this year.

I might just watch whatever trailers come out since that is why most of us care about the show anyways. It's like the Easter of gaming. E3 is obviously Christmas where you get so much hype, and while Easter won't be as big, you hope just go get one great thing out of it.
