Lester's version certainly had flaws, but some of its most memorable and enjoyable moments come from his version.
Donner's version was good in its own way, but there's a LOT of bad in his version of the script, which makes it a weaker movie overall. A lot of the changes Lester made were for the better. Lester's version probably could have been even stronger if the behind-the-scenes bullshit didn't handicap him in a lot of ways. But as is it still seems like the better of the two. The real problem was that Superman III basically tried to go all-in on the Lester elements while dropping the Donner elements entirely, which hurt the movie badly. Which suggests Donner and Lester together were more than the sum of their parts. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ... Copied to Clipboard!

Donner Cut is the way to go for me.
I can't even watch the Lester version any more (... which is kind of a shame, since I like the work he did on movies like Help!). --- -- I Abibde / Samuraiter Laughing at Game FAQs since 2002. ... Copied to Clipboard!
