They should have just focused on the Orcs. I couldnt care less about any of the human characters.

I liked it, but then I've been following WC lore since WC2. Seeing "kid" Khadgar was really cool, and seeing Lothar in action (since WC 2 didn't have the best cutscenes) really hit me in feels because of what happened to him later...

I do wish they had more.. magic/fantasy? A few spells here and there but we didn't get to see anything more than griffons...

They should do another one. Or actualky make a TV series.

It's a 7/10 movie and a 3/10 movie stapled together. The orcs parts of the movie were good, but the human parts were utter trash on basically every level. It's honestly sort of baffling. The orc effects were pretty good, but all of the human props and special effects were trash. The orcs were mildly nuanced and well-acted, the humans were soulless.

I just don't get it.

Should have been all CG. The humans looked goofy as heck

The orc parts are phenomenal, and the human parts were...an episode of Vikings with weird CGI backgrounds and awkward prosthetic tusks. I think Lothar was horribly miscast (and misinterpreted) as a smarmy charismatic swashbuckler rather than a rough and rigid warrior with a keen sense of honor and duty.

I liked it, oddly enough my wife loved it and she's watched it like 4 times. She knows nothing about Warcraft but loves sci-fi and fantasy.

I rate it a 7 overall, I watched it twice. I'll watch the next one for sure.

I thought it was funny that they made Medivh her dad when he and Garona had a kid together in "canon."

One little thing I did like in the terrible human storyline is that it's implied the entire plot is kicked off because Medivh was subconsciously seeking out Garona's mom.

Absolutely not. It's atrocious and incoherent. There's lots of significantly better video game movies. The whole live action Resident Evil series for example.

In the sense of a generic fantasy world, the human story was fine. In the sense of the Warcraft universe, it was loaded with retcons and sanitizing. A lot of characters were portrayed either incorrectly, or just poorly. Lothar wasn't Lothar, Garona wasn't Garona, Khadgar was sort of Khadgar, but somehow movie Khadgar was even dorkier than real Khadgar.

For example, Khadgar was supposed to be Medivh's apprentice. He was meant to spend the majority of the movie's plot line researching happenings in and around Karazhan (which is an iconic Warcraft location with rich lore that the movie barely even addressed).

Lothar is meant to be a war-hardened badass, not a jumping/leaping action hero with a snarky sense of humor, flashy moves, and a dead son to provide motivation he didn't need (this is definitely a problem that came from Hollywood cliches).

Medivh was portrayed.......decently, I guess, but like I said above, his story is more complex than the movie permitted us to see, and Khadgar was supposed to spend a lot of time around him/learning from him before figuring out his problem.

The weirdest thing was the ending when the humans/orcs really came together. In the real story, Garona assassinated Llane in his own throne room because she was a double agent under the control of Gul'dan and the shadow council. A tragic character, still, but the movie removed almost all of her ambiguity and struggle, in order to make her palatable for generic audiences. Llane definitely didn't just throw himself at her so she could kill him. That was out of character for everybody involved.

A ton of things were wrong or rearranged to fit the relatively short run time of a movie. More so on the human side. The orc side had some changes and retcons for the sake of dramatic effect, but it ran a lot closer to the truth than the human side did.
