if i remember correctly, PS2 games cost as much as PS4 games back then. at least around here in Portugal. lol

PS2 games were usually $50 and once you bought the game that was all you paid, no dlc or none of that.
Also when you turn on the PS2 is just boots right into the game if the disc is in the console, the ps2 console never needed to have to updated itself or update the game your playing.

If you dip below the turboclassics, the games are starting to look super dated. And I'm not even talking about graphics. I mean hallways and other small environments, level select screens, simple shallow mechanics, hell some games of the era even had shoulder strafing and/or no voice acting.

Don't get me wrong; I still love 6th gen, but it's starting to take a real adjustment to pop in a PS2 game and get used to these outdated designs.

I'm replaying Parasite Eve, and I do miss the PS/PS2 games.

I only miss them because when they were released, I was at a better time in my life, I had more time/money for games, and I had less things I needed to do on a daily basis.

As I've realized since that time, I've gotten older and was trying hard to hold on to something I always went to when I had free time and nothing to do, and that's why I would always buy games. I was always looking for that one game to bring me back even for a moment in time to feel that joy, but it never happens or has happened. So after beating my head against the wall and still playing games looking for an answer I found it in the Darkest dungeon. And that is called the definition of madness, which is, doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results.

So after coming to this conclusion, I realized they are not my priority and should be nowhere near that unless I am putting work into my dream, family, and then looking for a little R&R after working my ass off most of the day.

TL:DR - IMO, No game will ever be the same or affect you the same way as it did before, and games are a good way to waste time after getting everything done first. Its okay to drift away from games as you get older some times the acceptance is what makes us realize what we need to be doing instead of what we are doing.
