Luke chucking his lightsaber over his shoulder with no fucks given also set the tone for the film.

My friend (who is a relatively casual watcher of the movies and the series in general) said Luke throwing the lightsaber was the first of many warning signs for him.

Sad thing is Luke throwing the lightsaber is something you would expect in a comedy or parody not the serious (suppose to be serious) movie.

Show that bullshit to anyone who has just seen TFA and they would think wait what ?!, are you fucking kidding me ?! As the scene is that stupid.

Disregarding the degree of entitlement it takes to literally complain about a movie, it doesn't even look like a valid criticism. It just looks like people picked some other popular movie franchise and decided to make it a buzzword they can lob at whatever they decide not to like.
Its inherently lazy and dishonest, intended to muddle rather than clarify. That's not how criticism works, and its not even a good dunk on the movies.

Its such a weird critique to me because it stands in stark contrast of what theyre trying to say.

Are you saying the jokes are bad or that the movies full of them?

To say the movie has too many jokes is just a bold faced lie. Theres only a handful in the entire movie.

And if youre saying the jokes are bad then your first comparison is the MCU? What an absolute misguided and lazy ass criticism if Ive ever heard one. MCU jokes arent always the most clever highbrow gag but they almost always work well.

If you said it was Guardians 2 bad then youre making a decent argument.

to me it comes off as whiny and lazy. Every other Star Wars movie has jokes but the second we unanimously hate the movie, suddenly 4 jokes is too many.

As it is, I see the movie after Christmas so I'm reading none of this to avoid spoilers. Why bother when everyone here is already going to go anyway?

With the tone and content of your posts, it's like people who don't like the movie are just unreasonable and will come around to liking it when their heads finally clear of their hatred and misjudgment like there are no legitimate reasons to dislike the film. That's how I and I'm sure others read them. Not that I want to single you out. Many others act like not liking TLJ is just being a bitter fanboy upset over not getting their way.

What you see online now will eventually flip and people will start playing devils advocate for it. Also a lot of the hate is unreasonable. I defend the movie but I know there are things that arent good. But the internet has a way of painting everything with one brush and will not allow anyone to say anything remotely good about it.

Thats my bet anyway. Well see what happens after episode 9.

I'm sure there will be those types who change their mind on it. The prequels have more defenders popping up as well.

A lot of people who hate it do go to far and come off as enraged goofs, but to say the internet doesn't allow positive opinions on TLJ is a little silly. Every hater thread has defenders and many of the defenders go too far as well.

I'm still gonna see it on Sunday cause it's Star Wars but I didn't expect much after TLJ...which I do enjoy, just not as much as any other movie in the series. It did so much out of the box shit that following up on it as the final movie was always gonna be difficult - if it had been the first movie and there were two more, maybe they could have salvaged it.

They should've had JJ do the whole trilogy.
