President Trump, in a blistering, no-holds-barred six-page letter Tuesday to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., lambasted the Democrats' impeachment inquiry as an "open war on American Democracy," writing that she has violated her oath of office and "cheapened the importance of the very ugly word, impeachment!"

"Everyone, you included, knows what is really happening," Trump said, just a day before House Democrats were expected to vote to impeach him. "Your chosen candidate lost the election in 2016, in an Electoral College landslide (306-227), and you and your party have never recovered from this defeat. So you have spent three straight years attempting to overturn the will of the American people and nullify their votes. You view democracy as your enemy!"

"You are the ones interfering in America's elections. You are the ones subverting America's Democracy. You are the ones Obstructing Justice. You are the ones bringing pain and suffering to our Republic for your own selfish personal, political, and partisan gain."

Trump specifically hammered Pelosi for daring "to invoke the Founding Fathers in pursuit of this election-nullification scheme," and "even worse," for "offending Americans of faith by continually saying 'I pray for the President,' when you know this statement is not true, unless it is meant in a negative sense."

The president argued that Democrats were trying to distract Americans from the strong economy and historically low unemployment numbers, and pointed out that Democrats have openly called for impeachment since the day he took office. Democrats' persistent but unsubstantiated allegations that the Trump campaign had conspired with Russians to influence the 2016 election, the president pointed out, ultimately "dissolved into dust," but not before the nation had to endure years of "turmoil and torment."

Concerning the obstruction-of-Congress impeachment count, Trump attacked Democrats for "trying to impeach the duly elected President of the United States for asserting Constitutionally based privileges that have been asserted on a bipartisan basis by administrations of both political parties throughout our nation's history."

And, regarding the abuse-of-power count, Trump noted that it was former Vice President Joe Biden who had "bragged" on video about having Ukraine's allegedly corrupt prosecutor fired by threatening to withhold $1 billion in critical U.S. aid. But, House Republicans have been barred by Democrats from calling witnesses that would help them make the case that Trump's concerns about Ukraine corruption were legitimate.

"More due process was afforded to those accused in the Salem Witch trials," Trump wrote, observing that even Ukraine's president has repeatedly said at the United Nations that he felt no undue pressure from the White House.

Trump's letter came a day before House Democrats are expected to vote along party lines to impeach the president, sending the matter to the GOP-controlled Senate for a virtually certain acquittal. Moderate Democrats in districts Trump won in 2016 largely have fallen in line in favor of impeachment, with only two exceptions.

The impeachment vote may prove politically costly for Democrats, as Republicans in the House and Senate remain united against impeachment. Polls have shown that Trump is now leading his top Democratic rivals, and that impeachment is actually helping Trump in key battleground states that might decide the 2020 election.

Fox News has been told that around 10:40 a.m. ET on Wednesday, the House is expected to vote to adopt the rules for the impeachment debate. Then, there likely will be a grand total of four hours of debate on the actual articles themselves on the floor of the House, beginning around 11:30 a.m. ET. Fox News expects a singular debate on both articles of impeachment, but it remained unclear on Tuesday how much time the Rules Committee would permit for debate.

Even after voting to impeach Trump, the House still would need to vote formally to send the impeachment articles to the Senate. In 1999, the House approved the resolution to send the articles to the Senate about ten minutes after the House voted to impeach then-President Bill Clinton. But, Democrats might delay sending the articles to the GOP-held Senate this time around, in a bid to influence the proceedings there.

Setting up a potentially explosive evening of television, the president is scheduled to hold a massive rally at the Kellogg Arena in downtown Battle Creek, Mich., Wednesday night -- just as the House is expected to vote to impeach him.

Unfortunately a great deal of his supporters are so stupid they believe him. There are some that wouldn't exactly agree, but would say something along the lines of "has does have a point though." Those people are extremely stupid as well.

Don't worry, at worst we have to deal with it until 2024 then he is out of office and most likely imprisoned. Then his wife will probably get deported and the rest of his family won't have his teet to suck on for relevance.

Cry more, you dumbass. Maybe you should've thought a little harder (or at all) before making that call to the Ukranian president.

And you can stop whining about whatever effect this has on your family. What about the families that YOU have attacked personally using your platform as POTUS both in spoken language and on Twitter? Let's talk about that. You're the president - if you can't take the heat, then get the hell out of the damned kitchen.

Spare me your tears. You will be impeached in your first term (first ever) and thus have a stain on your already pathetic presidency.

No less ridiculous that the Dems claiming that Trump is trying to tear down Democracy and trample on all our rights. Both sides are going over-the-top to claim that the other is the AntiChrist.

This is how modern politics works now. The moderate opinion is never noticed because we have people like TC who only pay attention to the most ridiculous and over-the-top statements. If he's wondering why politicians make crazy statements like this, it's because schmucks like TC will post it as though it matters. This is why moderate and reasonable guys like Buttigieg never win...folks want dramatics and alarmism.

Both sides got into great dramatics to tell us how badly the other side is ruining the country and meanwhile all us normal people are just going about our day like we always did. The way politicians pump up their own self-importance knows no bounds.

Cry more, you dumbass. Maybe you should've thought a little harder (or at all) before making that call to the Ukranian president.

Trust me, Trump's not that worried. They're not getting the 2/3 majority in the Senate to kick him out, period, and that's where the story starts and ends. It's all for show.

You will be impeached in your first term (first ever) and thus have a stain on your already pathetic presidency.

You do know that A) Trump doesn't actually read this, B) No one's impressed by your toughguy act, C) This impeachment won't change how a single person thinks about Trump and D) You're not even accurate since almost no one mentions the impeachment of Clinton during his run. Time makes everyone forget.

I don't think you realize what you're saying here.

If Trump can't be impeached for such an easy open-and-shut case of abuse of power, then nothing is impeachable.

Like, literally.

This is setting precedent for future terms.

I don't think you realize what you're saying here.

I'm not "saying" anything about the hearings. If you'd read more than that, you'd realize I'm pointing out that both sides go into dramatics about the evil of the other side and both sides are greatly exaggerating. All of us normal peons will be just fine no matter what happens.

If Trump can't be impeached for such an easy open-and-shut case of abuse of power, then nothing is impeachable.

When did I say he can't be impeached? I was making fun of the hyperbole.

This is setting precedent for future terms.

No, it's not. No law is being changed. There's no Supreme Court ruling that we'll have to follow for the next 50 years. It's all case-by-case.

Andrew Johnson very obviously broke the law. Bill Clinton very obviously broke the law. Donald Trump very obviously broke the law. All three were impeached and none were kicked out. Politics are what dictates this stuff and nothing else. If Trump was a nicer guy, this impeachment wouldn't even happen. Don't pretend that this stuff is like a normal court case. It's not.

-Why say anything?
-That's the problem. Trump should have ignored the entire thing

Have you learned nothing from this? Trump LOVES getting under the skin of the Dems. Anything he can say that bugs them, he'll do it. He wins because the Dems take this shit super seriously and Trump couldn't care less what they say in return. I think he enjoys the back-and-forth insult battles. He's been getting the Dems to play his game for three years now.

Why would he be bothered by anything that loser says since it all sounds liek sour apples coming from her? She was so bad that she lost to Donald fucking Trump. One of the worst campaigns ever run.

Have you seen anything he's ever posted on twitter? he is clearly an insecure manchild and brought her up for ages, constantly has rallies to boost his ego etc. The fact he has a reminder he lost the popular vote would almost certainly anger him when by all accounts it shouldn't for the reasons you state.

Because he's petty. That's the way he is. little things like not getting the most overall votes bother him. Its like if a basketball player was playing a championship game against the team with his biggest rival on it. his team wins the title but his rival got more points than him, and he held a grudge over that, even though he just won a championship. that's Trump's mentality....he's like a teenager with a 5 year old temperament. So sure, he's happy he won overall and will constantly brag about it, but you're fooling yourself if you don't think getting fewer total votes doesn't still eat at him. That's just his personality as a narcissist.
