I literally can't understand a nearly 40 percent decrease from TLJ. Was Finn and Rose in a casino that entertaining? Palpatine being alive makes no sense but is needed and other characters at least do things this time besides Rey soloing everything. Conclusion was solid as well. I understand not liking it I'd you felt disappointed from the series, like I am, but how do you hate it if you like the last one.

JJ has admitted in the past he sucks at concluding stories, so no, they could have got a more competent director and definitely made a better movie.

It concluded fine. What else should they have done? They fucked over the original cast...so not much else to do.

RoS would have been a lot better if it were two movies.

On paper, the film actually addresses a lot of problems people had with TLJ. It gives Rey an actual arc, with personal struggles/demons that mean something (and makes her fail, and have to recover). It gives Poe a background, gives Finn someone/thing to bounce off of regarding his stormtrooper background. It gives Luke an actual compelling reason to go off to the jedi ho.eworld, other than hiding and cowering. It gives background to the first order, it shelves a lot of useless filler plots and characters. And much more.

Its problem is that it's clearly two movies shoved into one running time. Meaning we're getting arcs introduced and resolved within minutes. Jumping from place to place without a minute to breathe or digest. And a lot of these developments dont get properly explored, because, whoops, been here too long, onto the next place!

If Disney dropped the tradition and "let the old ways die," and made this a quadrology, the end result would have been much better.

Because the last one did something interesting and this one was reddit directs a star wars.

The last Jedi is by far the best individual movie of the trio, and simultaneously the worst movie of the trilogy since jj clearly disagreed with what the movie did. Though if jj was always going to have this ending the mistake wasnt letting rian do episode 8, it was not having him do 8 and 9. What rian was going for, the force is for everyone. Luke's sacrifice was the spark to ignite the rebellion to defeat the first order is a vastly better and more interesting universe than jjs only two families matter. And I can't stand on my own two feet, original trilogy redux.

Not to mention what jj did adds more questions and invalidates more than rian doing an awesome looking hyperspace sacrifice scene.

They could have easily done a part 1 and 2 out of Episode 9. I mean, this entire trilogy is 7 hours. Infinity War and Endgame alone are almost 6 hours and that worked wonders.

It definitely felt like two short movies crammed into one. But let's face it, JJ and Chris said they really didn't know where to go after TLJ and just made most of it up on the fly.
