G&W's down smash covers normal get up and roll off ledge too well. I feel like, while you have to mix those options in once in awhile, you gotta be really careful when you do it.

Today was a good session, a ton of good MU experience. Little by little I think we're figuring out the G&W MU. I need to think of a way to deal with his up b, as that's really the move that gives the most trouble imo. I was thinking maybe I should be trying to bait it out sometimes by hovering above him but just out of range of the up b. After he uses it it's just a matter of anticipating which aerial he'll choose to use

The key is playing patient since GnW kinda plays his own game. He wants you to be aggresive and approach him.

Also even top level players have trouble dealing with GnW. Maister has pulverized some of the very best players multiple times with him.

Even when playing patient I think you still have to threaten their space, though. Inkling can do so by dash dancing in and out of the opponent's range, Puff can float in and out with aerial mobility. The trick is to space it just so, so the opponent thinks they can punish you when they really can't. It's the same thing I do when I do a forward smash that doesn't have much chance of hitting but spot dodge immediately after and cancel it with rest. That's a more high risk high reward version of it though

I see what you mean. I was half awake when I made that post. But you're right we're getting better at the MU, I think Kobe also took a game. As frustrating as fighting ant is at times I appreciate the GnW MU knowledge since there's some really good GnW players here so every bit helps.

I think you both hit the nail on the head with patience. I arguably play the most aggro character here, and I sit and wait when playing g&w lol. The map also plays big into it. Battlefield, which we usually get, is, imo favored for g&w.
