If you want to use regular headphones you can get an adapter for like $10

I remember the Ericsson R310s released 19 years ago.

People want features like multiple cameras, wireless charging, nfc, big battery life, face id, etc while keeping the phone slim and bezel less. Apple can only put so much in a small space that something has to go.
