It depends

I could probably just rob a teller and get away with it. These robberies are the ones that are usually the most successful based on research I did for a book. But while I think I could get away with that, the amount of money you'd get away with isn't worth the risk at all so I never would.

Now if you're talking about a Heat/GTA style raid on a vault? Fuck no. Even if I could find someone or learn the technical aspects of doing the heist successfully, I don't have any way to actually launder the money. Even going for gold or gems/diamonds, I have nobody to fence it to so I'd get caught the second I try to offload it.

If I had to rob a bank I would break into the bank managers house and kidnap his family. Id tell him they will be safe if he lets me rob the bank.

I would come in right before closing and hed cut the cameras and open the safe. I would load up all the cash.

I would then tie him up and leave an envelope that had the address where his family is.(this gives me all night to get away before the morning employees find him.)

Heres the twist. Ever since I took the family I fed them roofies so they dont remember the abduction. I take 25% of the money and take it back to his house and hide it in his garage making sure to include the tracker they hide in money.Also, when I go to the bank I take his wifes cellphone.

So next morning the cops come after the employees find the manager and they find the envelope is empty. The wife calls her husband after she comes to and shes at home despite the manager ranting she was kidnapped.

Cops get suspicious and find the tagged money in his house and see the wifes phone pinged by the bank when she supposedly was kidnapped.

Meanwhile Im long gone and have laundered my money.

This. I could absolutely make a plan that could theoretically work given enough time, but I'd fuck up the execution hard.

I could maybe steal a pen and get away with it. Thats technically robbing. Othet than that no. Even if i have the intellect to form a plan my nerves would go to hell and id botch it.

When they close up for the night, banks require multiple people to lock up, and the safe is put on a timer so it literally cant be opened by anyone until the next morning

Your plan is complex in the worst ways (so much kidnapping) and you would end up getting nothing but a longer sentence

Then it turns out people saw you kidnapping multiple people and the manager wasn't even able to turn off all the cameras for security purposes, not to mention the family isn't so stupid as to not notice they were kidnapped and drugged just because it makes your life easier, so assuming you even make it this far, which you wouldn't, there's a manhunt that quickly ends in you being arrested and getting 20 years behind bars for the robbery and multiple counts of kidnapping and assault. Or maybe you get gunned down by the police because you're convinced that if you point a gun in the direction of an officer, the entire force will just let you go forever because that's about as coherent as your big bank robbery plan.

I liked your plan.

I would fuck one of the tellers for months before hand and make her fall in love with me. Then I would use her as a mole to find the best time to strike, like when everyone leaves for lunch except her. Then id move in and rob the bank and have her tell the cops it was someone who looks nothing like me. This would be a small rural bank btw. Then id cut her a piece of the action and leave the state for awhile.
