my mom wouldn't care much at all. She's always understood that people can't help what they're born with or where they're born at.

my grandparents(least my grandfather) might care

I did marry outside of my race and no one cares. It bothers my dad more that we're not currently planning on having kids
yeah i could understand his point of view, i mean if he will never have any grandchildren at all. That would upset a lot of people.

I got that impression when I was younger but now i know she wouldnt care. She just says she wouldnt herself because its how she was raised but she didnt raise me that way so she wouldnt care if i did.

Last wedding i went to was weird (in a good way) to me. My redneck as hell cousin from a redneck as hell family married a black guy. Everyone at the wedding seemed perfectly fine with it. I think one relative didnt show up because she didnt approve and that was it (she was like a 70 year old too so kinda expected from her generation)

My mom wouldn't care at all. I think she'd love having mixed race grandbabies.

My dad on the other hand... I'm not 100% sure he's actually racist, but he definitely acts like he is. I think it's more of an act because he knows it bothers the rest of us when he says and acts that way. I'm pretty sure it's just something to get under our skin, but he likely would give me hell if I dated a non-white woman.

My mother is Native American and grew up with a rough childhood dealing with racists because of it. She has experienced racial oppression and understands what ignites the hatred that leads to it. Yet she still dumps on me for having Eastern Asian friends and being open to dating black men...

She openly admitted she never considered Eastern Asian people of any origin as trustworthy, implying that all "orientals" are innately backstabbers because "cultural reasons". She's said worse, but I won't even post of description.

She has also basically dunked on me for "trying to steal black men away from hard working black women"...while she herself has once admitted to fantasizing about what it would be like to date a "strong handsome black man". It didn't quite compute with her that I'm a gay guy and therefore was dating homosexual black men (a group most black women are typically not interested in dating anyway). I also did not date these men because of race. I dated them because they were legit charming as individuals and we felt chemistry despite our differences. And frankly most of them made the first move. My first time asking a black man out happened because I was confident enough to approach him after having pleasant experiences being asked out by black men in the past...

Both my parents are also adamantly against my homosexuality and they would definitely not approve of me having a gay marriage. Not that I care. And as tempting as it would be to do it just to spite them...I've never been that interested in the concept myself. My partner and I know how to have a good time without a ring.

Just made me think. A gay guy in a rural area would be really limiting himself if he wouldnt date outside his race.

That's my perspective on dating as a gay man in general.

The race of partners was not really a barrier for me after I came out. I was actually more concerned about conflicting cultural differences and dealing with a partner's disapproving family. And certain cultural demographics are VERY outspoken about their disapproval towards gay relationships even today.

For a long time I avoided asking out black guys I found attractive because of the alarms that seemed to go off with their homophobic relatives/friends. It wasn't until a few black guys asked me out and opened up to me about how they also had to deal with the bigotry at home that I felt more comfortable approaching them.

Meanwhile some of my gay friends were explicitly locked on finding partners only within their own racial demographics. And then they bitched about never having a wide of selection as I had...

I never really considered the cultural differences much. Back when I was dating a mexican only thins different was his family displayed their Christianity much more. Like there was a shrine damn near it right past the front door. They would also go stanf in line at this place that sold freshly made soft tortillas and I learned the nearby city had a mexican grocery store where all the signs and what not where in Spanish. Looked like a empty store from outside as it had no sign or anything telling you what it was.

My family wants me to marry a white, Christian, cisgender woman.

Fuck them because my girlfriend isn't a believer and is trans. Only way I could piss them off more is her being black, but I'm sure being trans myself and pansexual makes up the difference lol

(They're very homophobic and transphobic as you might've guessed)
