Honestly, Im cool with not having children. The world has enough of them, irregardless of how old they are. Adoption works perfectly for me.

I take it from your sarcastic message that you believe that I'm worrying about this far too early at the age of twenty-five.

Perhaps I should have made a poll asking these lot if this is actually something worth worrying about at my current age, instead of the one I am posting in this minute.

Depends on the age. I wasn't worried at 26, especially as I had already been married and soon to be divorced. If I were still single at my age now (39), I think it would be a little abnormal to not be worried

It's normal, but it's also not necessarily mandatory, or even "correct".

If you're relatively happy (or at least content) your whole life without having a partner, then that's perfectly acceptable, even if society has a vested interest in constantly telling you that you're not a fulfilled person unless you get married and have kids.

Especially when other things that used to be accepted as "mandatory" to lead a fulfilling life - owning a house, being part of a religious community, leaving behind some "legacy", etc - are generally falling out of favor with a lot of younger people.

But it's not the same thing. If you're investing time and resources in a child, usually you want it to be from your bloodline. Otherwise you could just mentor or join a big brothers program.

The only people left for you at that age are either on a second marriage or have babies already and are damaged goods or are single because no one else wanted them or they have mental problems.

Im not too concerned. This probably sounds over-dramatic, but I genuinely feel I wasnt made for a relationship. I just dont have it in me. Ive tried plenty but its just never worked. Im 31 now and I just dont imagine that there are many women out there who would have the patience for someone like me.

That's not giving up, that's being passive. Giving up is not pursuing hints, not engaging with potentially flirtatious behaviour, or as the guy suggested, going celibate because everyone with any maturity is used goods.

I think you might have misunderstood what I was trying to say. Any time Ive attempted to date, its taken a lot out of me emotionally. And whos going to have the patience to deal with someone my age whos essentially mentally handicapped when it comes to dating?
