It's really really fucking dumb. Don't get me wrong, the actual DLC content looks adequate (despite the absolutely god awful character designs but those are nothing new), but the way they're handling returning Pokemon is dumb as fuck and it's just gross.

YES I KNOW that you can get the Pokemon through Home or trading. I'm not dumb, I watched the direct.

If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase either Pokemon Sword or Shield, nor will they purchase any more Pokemon games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Game Freak has alienated an entire market with this move.

Game Freak, publicly apologize and cancel Pokemon Sword and Shield for Switch or you can kiss your business goodbye.

You can trade for the pokemon added in the update since a free update is getting pushed so players without the expansion can still transfer the pokemon through home or trade for them.

That's not my issue. My issue is them lying, saying none will be added, then immediately turning around and adding some, but not even all of them, framing it as a selling point for the DLC. It's scummy as fuck. If they literally added all of them, I'd have no issues besides the DLC being expensive. It's like they're intentionally being dicks about the whole thing and drip feeding the Pokemon that already fucking exist in order to goad people into buying the DLC.

They have to pay something regardless unless you're trading from someone else's game. Fans were also under the assumption that they could treat these console Pokemon games with a slightly higher standard than the handheld ones.

Gen 7 reused the Gen 6 models, we know the Gen 8 models are the Gen 7 and models, even the pokemon completed for Let's Go weren't in SwSh. This had nothing to do with time.

Literally the highest grossing media franchise IN THE HISTORY OF HUMANITY. They can put manpower behind this. Look at the absolutely insane worlds that Assassin's Creed pumps out at a speed almost identical to Pokemon. And they're way less huge of a franchise. There is absolutely no excuse for how scummy this is.

They're way less huge of a franchise with a much higher budget and you're wondering why they aren't being copied?

Assassin's Creed is also able to reboot what the game is and doesn't have the baggage of 20 years to figure out.

GameFreak split their team between Let's Go, Town, and SwSh. This had nothing to do with time and everything to do with sloppy management and poor use of resources

That's assuming that everyone on each game was working on the same thing in different games at the same time. Which is rarely the case for video game development. Developers tend to have split teams so people are always working on something. Video game development isn't a bar to be filled.

In order to have the change you guys want they'd probably need to stop releasing Pokemon games for a year or two and drastically change how they're being developed. Which for now would cost them 10 million sales. So it doesn't make sense for them to do so despite all of the tantrums over it online.

Like pretty much every big Nintendo games get expansion passes now. It seems pretty obvious to bring back the cut Pokemon to them. That would have been decided a long time ago.

Let's Go being a one off thing doesn't mean it flopped either.

But his quote made right before release didn't really rule out any expansions or DLC.

We encourage people to use Pokmon Home to collect their Pokmon from old games. From there they might be able to take them to other games in the future.

The other quote in the article made earlier in the year was probably a lie. But I think it would have been way more messy if he said "Some Pokmon will come back in future expansions after release." anyway.

There isn't "200~ more ready not even 2 months after release."
It was stated within the direct that the DLC is currently still in development. This was an announcement, with tentative dates, of when they plan to have these ready and out by.

As someone who lives in Japan. Nah. Assholes screw over people all the time here. Power harassment and putting up with abuse at a company that is illegal and would never be tolerated in other first world countries is common.
