in case you havent heard right now, ny Democrats passed a bill against cash bail for many crimes including manslaughter because they felt it was unfair for minorities because they couldnt afford cash bail. So it all depends on the situation when you were arrested, for instance on December 31st a drunk driver killed a mother and child and he got released the next day. Prosecutors and all the cops are begging for government interference to protect the public but the democrats dont care.

ny and nyc is burning and it looks like theres no help on the way.

The bail system is inherently biased towards people with money and punishes poor people by keeping them incarcerated for crimes they haven't been convicted of.

IMO people should spend no more than 48 hours in jail without a trial. If you can't get them a trial in that time then put an ankle lock on them and send them home or just don't arrest them in the first place until you have scheduling time for a trial.

And by trial in this context I mean it could be just getting a plea entered not the whole jury / verdict 9 yards.

if a person commits a violent crime then they should never have bail or bond, then people wonder why criminals laugh at the system and get away with things. besides that there are way too many people in prison for petty things and thats the main issue like small to medium amounts of drugs and non violent thefts, those people should just get community service picking up trash with a stick.

but where you have these horrible democrats allowing people to be out on the street after killing or punching people is bizarre and those politicians should be jailed.
