It was PS2 for me when I was 18 with money from my first job. I saved a bit of my paycheck for numerous months and then finally bought it along with Final Fantasy 10, GTA Vice City and Medal of Honor Frontline.

I actually got my Xbox One with a bunch of Amazon gift cards that I saved from Bing Rewards. Not sure if you count that.

Wii. I got off work at 7am after working the night shift then went to stand in line at Best Buy for the launch of the Wii.
