Nah. People talk differently in casual vs. professional settings.

Also, a classic example is a genius who speaks poor English because of unfamiliarity with the language, but is some kind of super-scientist in French.

Someone who doesnt speak or spell correctly is an indicator of stupidity but correct language and spelling isnt an indicator of intelligence as those are subjects that should be mastered by the third grade

So it's a loaded question but generally no

What they're speaking holds a lot more weight. I would think much more highly of someone who uses simple words to describe complex subjects than a person who uses complex words to describe simple subjects

Even for informal settings, there's knowing which rules to consistently break for the sake of brevity, humor, or local dialect, concise transfer of information, wordplay, things like that. Some people just have a specific issue with speech and can still be bright, of course, but I've found that a common flag for stupid people is that they can't communicate their ideas well, because they use too many vague notions that are assumed to be universally known. There's a kind of intellectual empathy that they lack. You'll see it on forums, too.

intellectual empathy? what do you mean by that?

The ability to understand what another person understands, or is capable of understanding, or, to an extent, what they might already be assumed to know.

Like, if someone asks you "hey, do you know about anime?", and you're all "Yeah man Watanabe is my weebdaddy", and they're all "yeah it's Japanese Animation, it's very serious"
