is simply that I don't find them to be fun.

I played Contra and Super C a few hours a night for three or four nights each game and beat them. Konami's Lifeforce is a game I've played off and on for two years and I've just now made it to the boss of the fourth stage.

I can only play it for about twenty minutes to half an hour at a time -- up an hour if I'm losing and frustrated and have to beat that second fucking boss. I can't pour hours into the game like I would a fun one. So I repeat the same two or three levels and that's that.

Now that I'm two-thirds of the way through the game, I think I'm going to force myself to complete it. But, just for the record, shoot 'em ups do not feel fun or rewarding to me.
