I've heard that, and it seems like the people in my area (PA) who come from NYC are often more rude, but then people who have jobs in NYC (who probably came from somewhere else) are often nicer.

That being said, I hated being in NYC and would never want to live there. Visit, sure, but no way do I want to live there
why do you dislike nyc so much?

I live in CA and at least once a month I hear someone say "actually the people in New York are nicer, they are more real"

No, but I have eaten Sbarro so it's basically like I've had their best pizza slices.

I live here. I think it's over rated. I see more people talking about how the impression of NYers being rude is wrong more than just people commenting on them (us?).

Well I'm hate crowds and I'm nature lover so this ain't it.

I'd like to move to a more rural place in the South and Western US.

I mean I don't have that much references but I don't think NYers are particularly rude.

Like I said, I don't mind visiting there, but living there would probably be hell for me.

* I'm currently poor (but I won't be come August!! yay) and the prices for everything are outrageous
* Because of my poorness I would barely ever be able to leave NYC, and
* I go freaking crazy if I don't get into the countryside at least once in a while. Central Park does not count. I just generally don't like the hustle and bustle and busy life of cities and NYC is the supreme archetype of a city. I currently live in a small city (100k people) in a group of other small cities (200k and 70k) and there are even things about here that I don't like, but at least the place goes quiet once in a while. The amount of horns honking and noise in NYC was insane lmao
So basically, I just hate how ridiculously busy it is. There are plenty of other reasons I don't like it but those are what came to my mind.
yeah i've heard people say that nyc is like the best big city in the world, if you have money, that is

No, but about half of all New Yorkers are another grade of ignorant from years of customer service.
