What's fucked to me about this whole situation is:
I'm a janitor in a hospital in MTL. We have a family of 4 in an isolated room currently in the emergency department. We have not been told how to properly disinfect this room from our bosses. I asked this morning and was told, "just treat it like c-diff, I guess."
Okay.
What if that doesn't work? What if it's resistant to the product and requires something else?
Also, for proper gowning up procedures, they are not providing us the jumpsuits you have to wear when sterilizing an OR.
This is in MTL. If incompetence like this continues, shit can get outta and quickly, and that's why people should be taking this seriously and not scoffing it away.

These four humans, if they turn out to be positive have infected how many on their route to the hospital?

It's not even close to being a doomsday scenario yet, but if we keep treating it like no big deal, it can escalate to that rather quickly.

Probably unrelated unless by some chance the servers are located in Wuhan. I'm 900km from Wuhan and my internet has been pretty decent but have heard people in Wuhan are having internet problems.

Last time I checked, the mortality rate went down to 2%. Like I mentioned before, most of the people who have died so far is older folk with underlying health problems. People infected are actually starting to recover from this. None of the doom posters ITT are going to quote me because they are fools. Unlike them, Ive been following this virus way before major news outlets have caught on. If anyone here actually wants to know whats going on with Coronavirus, send me a pm.

With the R0 of this being so high, the ability to continuously mutate, a 2% mortality rate can lead to a LOT of dead people. And yes, the majority of people who died are older people with underlying health problems but not all of them are (see the 36 year old who died who was in perfect health). And with it mutating, that can change at any time. I'm not saying that it will, but if this isn't contained, it has the potential to not only kill a ridiculous amount of people (if it becomes a global pandemic and saying 20% of people contract it globally and it has a 2% mortality, that is potentially 28 million dead), but also destroy the economies of countries in the process via overwhelming the medical industry, mass shutdowns of manufacturing jobs, etc.

The problem with this virus the inability to currently treat it, the fact that it is extremely contagious, some people can be asymptomatic, it is contagious during the incubation period, its proven ability to mutate, and the fact that it all happened during the largest mass migration period on the planet.

But please, you're the self-proclaimed expert on the subject, so please tell us the inside information that you seem to know.

Doesn't really matter at this point, with China's delayed response any chance to contain the spread is long gone, if I remember rightly several million people had already left the area before the quarantine due to the holidays anyway.

They just found a person with it here in my city. Yay.

I will say it's a bit worrying in my situation. There was a confirmed case in Raleigh, and mom and I travel to Duke every three weeks for me to get treatment for my cancer. I'm already pretty perpetually immuno-compromised...I dunno. Just worried.
