Not gonna lie, I was looking forward to a big brute melee character like Forge, so if the implication here is that that was a fake out and we're getting this ninja guy I'm going to be pretty annoyed.

They might both be coming this season. I think S3 was the only one with one new character.

S1 had Caustic and Mirage
S2 had Octane and Wattson
S3 had Crypto

Caustic and Mirage were preseason at launch. Octane was season 1, Watson was S2, and Crypto was S3.

Recently got back into this after falling off midway through season 1. Bought the battle pass and nearly maxed it out despite only coming back at the end of December.

I was kind of hoping for a new map though because I'm not a huge fan of World's Edge.

Well season 4 ranked is apparently going to be split between WE and KC, not sure if that means normal will get the same split or a rotation or just WE, but it's at least something.

What a dumb as hell marketing campaign, then.

Like, I get why they thought it was good on paper, but it doesn't work at all when people actually want the fake hero you were pretending to push.

Like, I guess they thought people wouldn't actually want a big brawler dude? Definitely could not have flubbed that more if so, should have made something more obviously unappealing or broken, something that people would actually be against. As it stands, me and a whole lot of other people are just going to be inherently biased against whoever this red ninja guy is. I actively care less about him already and I don't even know his name.

Pretty much they only way to recover from this is to have Forge come back in season 5 after some kind of life saving robotic repairs or something, but then you have the issue of "we already know season 5's character 4 months ahead of time".

Yeah....I dunno, if this is actually how this went then this was a fuckup. I'm totally uninterested in another stealthy character type.

well the character we seem to be getting, Revenant, was datamined 5 months ago so this would be an improvement!!

I dunno how I feel about what they're doing. Obviously they're going for a Fortnite-like shock marketing campaign to get more people to talk about Apex right when they're going to be selling new cosmetics, but... eh... as long as the characters are fun to play I guess I'm okay, maybe?

I dunno if Apex is at a point right now where "bad publicity is still publicity" is going to work.

We're already coming off a season that went on way too long, with a bunch of their absolutely disgustingly priced events shoehorned in to extend the life.

I wonder how long it is going to take them to realize that their plan of asking you to spend an extra $80 on real money only skin packs every month and a half is not going to bring them good will.

Dummies Big Day was such an incredible game mode. It was easily my favorite of the Soiree event.

Huh, it was easily my least favourite mode of the event. After two games my two buddies and I were like, "oh okay here are a couple of kind of mediocre ults that are no longer novel, this is just the regular game mode with no voice acting".

The ring closing mode on the other hand was hilarious. There were so many ways to play and the end of that game was guaranteed to be a shitshow which is always fun.

My viewpoint might be skewed though because I only play Apex with friends which makes the experience much different than solo dropping with no communication between teammates.

I didnt play the first few, but, I wasn't a huge fan of the modes. The mini-games Apex rolls out seem to be too flawed. Always closing was kinda cool, I guess.

I do like WE more than KC.

I was a big fan of the skill based match making.

Yea I ended up finding the death box like a day after I posted that. I hope he can make it in the game anyway at some point. Like I mean they exist in a reality where people can literally be brought back from the dead through the beacons so who knows.

Finally got a chance to read the Reddit post, these are WILD changes, and I think I like all of them. Removing Turbo and fusing into the devotion, makkg ita Crate weapon, and making LStar a normal drop weapon makes so much sense.

Honestly, sniper ammo for the energy sniper weapons seems weird.

I understand from a gameplay perspective the need to separate the ammo between snipers and other weapons, but it's weird from a lore-perspective.

I've been out for a couple months, and the battlepass is whateverr (unless the trailers aren't showing the good stuff), but I am very excited to see these game changes when I get home.

I went ahead and bought Revenant in Apex, but I have yet to try out his ultimate ability nor have I seen it in action. I'm seen a ton of those "devices" he throws though.

I played a bunch tonight and did awful.

Revenants climbing is awesome, but his other abilities Im iffy on if I like what they might do to the meta.

It feels really bad when youre pushing a team and their Gibraltar bubbles them up and they all rush out with the re-raise buff, because that freshly spawned person can still shoot you in the back and side if you turn to shoot their teammates after you down them.

I saw tons and tons of Gibby, Watson, Rev teams, and its impossible to push them.

Did Mirage get a buff or something with the new update? My first three games, all with different sets of randos, were Bloodhound/Lifeline/Mirage trios, and I rarely ever see anyone play as Mirage.

Playing on the original King's Canyon map before they made changes to it this last weekend reminded me of why I liked this game so much when it first came out.

Not looking forward to being back on World's Edge.
