Somehow I forgot to put them in the fridge after grocery shopping. I was very tired and I guess I just left them out by accident.

It depends where you are from. If you're american, they probably are fucked as they need to be kept refrigerated

Put them in water,if they float they are bad.But really overnight during cool weather is nothing to worry about.

they aren't fine because American eggs are washed and very porous. If it's unwashed eggs like pretty much every other country then it still has all of its hard shell to protect its content from harmful bacteria. 18 eggs are like $3 so it's not a total loss.

I looked it up once. Apparently most places in the world don't refrigerate aside from "western countries." The shell is apparently sufficient to protect the egg, they don't treat it (washing, bleaching, etc.. in most places either so the integrity of the shell is maintained). Once the eggs have been refrigerated they basically have to stay that way, otherwise condensation will develop and it can lead to issues.

I mean, they're still gonna be fine as long as you plan on cooking them thoroughly.

Edit: If you like hard boiled eggs and want to be extra safe maybe boil this dozen up to eat for later?
