This is something i noticed quite a few times. Say there are 4-5 girls eating an ice cream or something somewhere. While they are talking or joking, i noticed most of the time its always the big or fat girl within the group that talks, laughs or yells noticeably louder than the rest. I noticed this pattern many times during my lifetime.

From a psychological standpoint, a lot of fat people cope with their weight/self-esteem issues by becoming more friendly and extroverted since they think it will help society view them better. Hence the stereotype of the "funny fat friend".
