I know they're part of the same thing but all I've heard is that the movie is awful. But it does have Christopher Lee.

yes, it's basically the first 4 episodes of the show (not counting a few episodes that take place before it chronologically)

The cartoon was pretty dank, the movie was awful and Lee is barely in it.

I would definitely suggest watching the movie. It introduces a new pivotal character and is pretty much 3 episodes of the series stuck together.

For scheduling and production reasons, the first few seasons had to be aired out of order. The order in that link is the one you should follow for the best experience.
