bioshock collection is free with ps+ this month. Ive tried the original multiple times but I always got bored like 3 or 4 hours in.

Have it on disc so it's another month with nothing (think I got a whole 1 game last year). Thought the games were good though, might replay again. Had PS3 version.

This. Being as this is your third or fourth time trying I would think the game simply isn't for you. I personally love the series with Bioshock being my favourite.

Its a linear game thats ashamed of being linear by tossing in a bunch of backtracking and fetch quests.

Havent played the second game so I cant judge.

3rd game isnt afraid of its linear nature but man oh man the virtue signals are extreme for some reason. Its like a videogame version of oscar bait.

If it's not your thing that's ok. Only thing I can guess is maybe you're not taking advantage of what makes it unique? What I mean is if you treat it like a normal FPS then you miss half the game, much like one would if they played a stealth game (MGS, Deus, Dishonored) by going through with guns blazing. Does that make sense?

The twist was cool at first but it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. It's actually one of the weakest parts of the game, imo.

Bioshock is my favorite game, btw.

is the game linear or does it make you backtrack? sounds a bit contradictory. Game was a wonderful labyrinth. Once you finish a level you go to a new area, never have to return to old levels but you can if you think you missed a powerup.

Considering ive played it twice through and dont know what youre talking about, youre probably looking into it too deep, nothing in this game makes sense except the fast paced barebones combat.

Yes. Infinite isn't connected all that much. Two is just more lore building than anything.

In terms of the story, Bioshock Infinite only has ties to the first Bioshock.

But if we're talking gameplay, I think it would be pretty sad if someone missed out on Bioshock 2. I think the gameplay in 2 is the best of them all. More plasmids. Better tonics. More variety. And the melee weapons is probably 10x more fun. Becoming a big daddy is a good time!

Not gonna lie. Bioshock 2's story is fan-fiction level. But it's lots of fun to play!

You can play Infinite then come back to BS2.
BS2 has the best gameplay in the series.

Though Infinite can be rather decisive among fans, some love it, some hate it.
The gunplay is rather streamlined and a big downgrade from the first two. Guns are boring and underwhelming and theres no sci-fi feel to them. However level design is still there and the Plasmids are actually pretty fun and have some really nice combinations. Atmosphere is good but no where near as sinister as being in the dark depths of rapture. Despite its flaws I played the game twice through immediately which is extremely rare for me.

Infinite is technically linked to Bioshock 1, but barely. There is no real story connection other than knowing that Plasmids existed in Bioshock 1, and some set pieces.

That aside, the story to Infinite is kind of plot hole ridden nonsense, however, I still enjoyed the game because I enjoyed the environment of Infinite and the story element of Elizabeth's company throughout the game.

It's been a long time so maybe I'm wrong, but I believe you can't melee your way through Infinite like you can in Bioshock 1 and 2.

I don't agree. Infinite is a Bioshock game and plays as one. I also enjoyed the setting and story.

Since I haven't gotten far in BS1, but have beaten BS2 twice... I could be the decider here, I would just have to give it a quick playthrough.

My critiques of the BS2 gameplay is that combat relied on arenas of snipers combined with swarming doofuses, except for the Daddeh fights which were more balanced but monotonous since you have to fight like 20 of them (it's been a while).

Probably playing at the plebeian difficulty. Bioshock Series is Hard difficulty or nothing.
The game is more about the enviroment and amazing guns and many different options you have to dispatching those enemies. Plus Big Daddies still offer some of the best FPS combat with a single enemy I have ever played.

No I always choose the hardest difficulty in a game unless it's a game known for being really hard

HOT DANG!!

Ok, last time I played Bioshock was apparently in 2014... so I'm now playing again on my new rig, and my old rig was certainly overpowered for Bioshock

But in 2k UHWD (or whatever those letters are) the game looks OUTSTANDING from the ... well, not the get go since the main menu animates at like 15fps, but the actual first moment of the game are crisp and awesome.

I'm not sure how they did it, I wonder if the graphics are generated procedurally for infinite upward scaling... or if Bioshock Remastered just coincidentally has a 2k texture pack.

Side note, I just realized you play the entire game wearing only one shoe :D
