The only metric Ive seen is that you say it is. Rules lawyering is only a problem on social sites that have loose rules which are open to interpretation by the moderators. They took away my ability to dispute moderations because I kept basically saying this in them, that the mods spend more time protecting the trolls than actually moderating this place worth a damn. it's so fucking dumb the way the leads and admins enforce the rules around here. it's dumb on two levels: not only do they come down on flaming more harshly than they come down on trolling (because flaming is much more clear cut, whereas trolling is subjective)... but the good poster who calls a shithead a shithead gets hit 10x harder than the shithead troll, because the good poster usually only has one account, while the troll might have 20 or 30 accounts and a VPN to hide behind. if the good poster gets warned or suspended for calling a shithead a shithead, he's out his account. if the troll gets warned or suspended, he just switches to an alt. it's so fucking stupid and short-sighted. it's an asymmetry of power that basically guarantees trolls get protected and rule the roost, whereas anyone who calls the troll out gets punished. i've criticized it forever now, but you know, i'm just like the 30th highest karma user on these message boards with a clean moderation history and an account that dates back to two months after the forums went live in november 99, what the fuck do i know, it's not like my opinion should count for anything. --- https://imgur.com/iMNC6RU <cite>Mecha Sonic posted [p:934107556] in 'I accept ...
