Probably pretty good since that's illegal. If you're union you'll get some sort of extra compensation too.

Wait a fucking minute.... are you saying you were getting paid half of your hourly rate for overtime?

How the hell did you not notice that immediately?

---
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

Are you positive? Like for example say you worked 45 hours one week.

Did your stub show 40 hours at regular rate and 5 hours at half rate?

Or 45 hours at regular rate and 5 hours at half rate?

I work for a work comp/payroll company that processes overtime the second way (work comp gets charged on gross pay from total hours but overtime pay is exempt, so it has to be paid that way to get billed properly). Maybe that's what's going on.

This. I also work payroll and either way can be done depending on requirements or just the habits of the person doing the work.

Sometimes OT is itemized differently. So if you work 10 hours, it'll say "worked 10 hours at x1 + 2 hours of overtime at x0.5" instead of "8 full time hours to x1 and 2 overtime hours at x1.5

Making state labor claims will just get you fired sooner or later. I've had state employees tell me that personally.

The OT has always been scheduled for me, not like it just started or anything. So the amount hasnt changed much.

One week I have 83 straight hours, with 8 Ot

next week I have 94 hours straight and 14 premium

one week my OT was paying 3/hr.... something isnt right

edit: per pay period, not per week

I called the Dept of Labor one time and the agent couldn't wait to fuck up my boss's day. They were super helpful for me at least. My boss was withholding my paycheck til I had a meeting with him explaining why I quit.

Did you make sure they aren't listing your OT hours in both regular pay and OT pay?

This is how my job does it. They just add the 1.0 to my "regular pay" and throw in 0.5 OT pay

Yeah, that ended up being it. I was just expecting to see 80 regular hours, with ~10 OT

but it works out to the same amount

Then every future employer who calls that boss will hear that you complained to the Government about him. That doesn't look good.

Hiw would they know? Its an anoynymous reporting system, and in my experience, bosses so shoddy they deserve reporting are shoddy to everyone, so short of torpedoing the entire staff they cant retaliate with certainty, and theyd never know who reported them short of you informing them.
