Just looking through all these job postings and qualifications that require me to have skills and years of work experience I don't have just makes me want to not even bother with it. Not to mention these job agencies that I've went to, who have during my orientation appointments, kept asking me if I have had more than one job in my entire life, when I have had just the one. And I do not even know what I like or what I even want to do, anymore. It seems impossible to think of an occupation I think I would enjoy. Overall, life just seems meaningless and nothing I do has any point or purpose anymore.

Go for something you think wouldn't mind doing instead of trying to find a dream job.

If your point is that my dreams will readily coincide with reality only in an ideal world--rarely in this world, in other words--then your point is taken.

You mean because I don't have one of those, or because of the point that the bloke above you has made?

Seems like depression talking. Looking for work is frustrating more than anything for me. Once day you'll find something you just need to knock on a lot of doors before someone answers I guess. This doesn't mean I don't have things in life I don't enjoy and I certainly won't stop doing things I enjoy. If I did I probably wouldn't be here now.

I wish I did have things in life that I do enjoy. I kept alternating between using the computer yearning for social interaction and going to bed, because I'm so tired nowadays. I find myself using the computer for shorter periods of time nowadays due to frustration. Today, I have sort of made up some twisted game of how long I can stay on the computer before I get frustrated, switch it off, and then head off to bed. I spent about four hours this morning in bed and at my desk just staring at a blank wall constantly brooding, and just thinking about how much fun I had had during some of my math classes. It's not productive in the slightest, to say the least. I'm not really happy now, nor do I engage in social contact as much as I used to; so my memories of being happy and talking to people are all I really have. I don't have much reason to go outside and find a pretense to talk to shop-keepers and the like. Since I am no longer employed, I am not at liberty to spend a lot of money at the moment. And it's not really the fact that I am always alone that bothers me; it is more the feeling of being alone. For example, if I am at some movie theater and everyone's laughing their heads off at some joke that I either did not understand or find that humorous, it is a bit depressing. It's the same reason why I am afraid to head to the campus on the weekends: I am no longer a student.

I know what you mean. I think they just don't want people to have jobs and live. They always seem to want people with experience. How do you expect people to get experience if you don't give them the chance for experience? I've gotten to the point where I just apply despite how much experience they want. For example, even when they say they want 10 years of experience, and I don't have any, I still apply.

I get that feeling. More often than not I feel if I didn't exist in a certain situation the situation wouldn't have changed. I've also never felt I truly belong. Still I'm thankful for having family in my life and acquaintances. Mostly family and that's what keeps me going. I also enjoy walking places a lot. I find it to be a good way to clear my mind. Even more so in the countryside. It sounds simple but it's effective for me so meh.

Here's a protip for all you job searchers out there. Never assume that you have to have every requirement they're asking for and 'years of experience' can also include school. Regardless of the requirements, apply for a job that you think you could do and let them be the ones to decide you're not qualified. Never don't bother applying just because you don't think you're good enough. Apply anyway.

Did you leave your job or get fired?
Did you graduate or decide not to complete your degree?
I must have these answers.

Apply for any job you want whether or not you exactly meet the qualifications. Wow them at the interview.

Why did you leave your job without having another one already lined up?
Why didn't you stay until you got a new job?

You make it depressing. It was never bad for me when I was out of work in Alberta. But there was tons of it before Trudeau.

Its real easy for an indoctrinating figure like an Albertan public school servant to say Im wrong but they have a nice, cushy job that requires almost no skill. Before one that frequents here might say so.
