You need to find a better group to watch or something. My sessions are usually a lot livelier and very dramatic. Though, it contains a lot of content not suitable for most audiences so you might find it... hard to swallow.

I love D&D, but its not especially entertaining to watch other people play. Even with a group like critical role I can only take so much of it.

If it's the first campaign, just start skipping forward whenever: Liam starts going angst-mode, Marisha gets preachy, they start fumbling with spellcasting during combat.

Also to be fair, he does get better about limiting the broody angst thing to a minimum

I'm almost finished with CR1.
I've seen some of the animations on CR2, but most focus on Sams and Lauras characters.

Laura's character is pretty great. Sam's is good too, but I'm not crazy about her.

Weirdly, I think Marisha's character is my favorite. I didn't hate Keyleth like a lot of people do, but she was probably my least favorite. It made me appreciate her acting a lot more. A lot of traits I assumed to be Marisha were actually just Keyleth's.

I think part of it's the preachiness that was already mentioned ITT. Part of it is that she's the main caster after Orion leaves, meaning she sometimes bogs combat down by misunderstanding spells. Part of it is the naive, socially awkward thing.

And part of it probably is that she's Matt's girlfriend, inspiring some dumbasses hating on her for that reason.

I've watched about a dozen episodes from both campaigns, plus some of the one-shots. Mostly the later stuff from campaign one (the final fight against Vecna was admittedly pretty epic) and the first twelve and a half from campaign two. I don't have any problems with the stuff you just said, or with the characters or the players, on the contrary, I think they'd be a blast to play with.

Its mostly just that I need to be in the mood to sit and watch other people play D&D and that just doesn't happen very often, whereas if someone's offering to DM a game, i'm basically always down for it.
