A second convicted child molester has died after he was beaten with a walking cane by another inmate last week at a central California prison, officials said Wednesday. They said Jonathan Watson, 41, used the cane to beat the heads of both inmates. David Bobb, 48, died en route to the hospital. Both victims were serving life prison sentences for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years old. Watson has served 10 years of a life sentence for first-degree murder and discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury or death.

Who gives a fuck? All 3 were serving life sentences for terrible crimes. Arguing about whose crime was worse is fucking stupid. The bottom line is that child molesters are completely irredeemable and cannot be rehabilitated. And now we have two less of those. Win!

It's hard to feel sympathy, but at the same time, it's not something I'm going to cheer for.

Beatings/killings/rapes in prison are not something we should be quick to condone given that the majority of victims have never done anything to "deserve" it.

Watson said he returned to his housing pod.
I was mulling it all over when along came Molester #1 and he put his TV right on PBS Kids again, he wrote, according to the newspaper chain. But this time, someone else said something to the effect of Is this guy really going to watch this right in front of us? and I recall saying, I got this. And I picked up the cane and went to work on him.
Watson said he then left the housing pod to find a guard and turn himself in, but on the way, he saw a known child trafficker, and I figured Id just do everybody a favor, Watson wrote. In for a penny, in for a pound.

Rewarded? For murdering more people? You do realize he was originally sent to prison for killing someone right? He may well have decided to kill these two so he'd find the result of satisfying his murderous impulses easier to live with or so that fellow inmates would find it socially acceptable. The man was already serving a life sentence, and I don't think California has the death penalty. Not much more can happen to him unless he makes enemies.

It goes without saying that both victims were perpetrators of horrible crimes (or at least, a judge or jury thought so). But you don't just get to kill people who are evil. And if you are a fan of the idea of making people suffer, then these two got off light. Being beaten to death with a cane would be horrible, but it would be quick. A long life in a shitty US prison with no real possibility of ever leaving would have been much, much worse.

What a hero.

It's difficult to sympathize with these particular victims, but you can't have a guy just going around killing people in prison. He poses too much of a safety risk to the people around him, not all of whom can be so easily rationalized away. They need to get him under control, or else put him someplace where he won't be able to go around beating people to death.

The prison killer told the administration that he could get very violent against these prisoners if let out of solitary confinement, and the administration put him out into general anyway. He was cognizant enough to go "if you let me out there with these child molesters, there's a non-zero percent chance that I will beat them to death", and the prison staff rolled the dice on those odds.

Say what you will about the murderer objectively being in the wrong because murder is never justified, but keep in mind that he advised the prison to keep him locked away from general due to the high likelihood of him murdering these two child molesters. His plea was ignored, and it took one of the sick fucks watching kiddy TV shows for the express purpose of skeeving out the other prisoners for this guy to beat him to death. I'm not going to call him a hero, but the world is better off without these child-fucking sickos and there was an opportunity to keep them alive with the murderer's own admission which the prison staff didn't take into account.

On one hand I don't give a crap what happens to people who sexually assault/abuse or harm children in any way

On the other hand I don't like prisons just being negligent and allowing violence to happen. I feel like they should make a basic attempt at this. I mean, they're basically allowing scumbags to murder even bigger scumbags.
