"A female rapper is wanted by Saudi cops for busting a rhyme about her hometown of Mecca.
Officials in the Islamic holy city say rapper Ayasel Slay offends the customs and traditions of Mecca with a music video she posted on YouTube, according to Al Jazeera.

In the song, titled Girl from Mecca, Slay boasts about being from the historic city while a team of young dancers all conservatively dressed dance around her in a coffee shop.

Her rhymes boast of the beauty of women from the holy city and claims they make good wives for Muslim men.

With her, you can complete the Sunna," Slay raps. "Your life with her will become Paradise.
Sunna is an Islamic text inspired by the teachings of Muhammad that outlines traditional social standards within the faith.

The seemingly wholesome lyrics offended Meccas governor, who reportedly demanded the prosecution of those involved with producing the video, which was removed from YouTube shortly after its debut last week.

Prince Khalid bin Faisal of Mecca has ordered the arrest of those responsible for the 'Bint Mecca rap song, which offends the customs and traditions of the people of Mecca and contradicts the identity and traditions of its esteemed population, reads a tweet from Mecca authorities.

Some social media users sided with Meccas governor, demanding the burka-clad rapper be punished. That criticism frequently turned racist, with some Twitter users alleging the dark-skinned artist isnt from Mecca and shouldnt align herself with Islams most sacred city.

Enough of this depravity, one social media user reportedly declared. I hope the punishment for this African woman will be imprisonment then deporting her back to her country.

Another hater complained about the Somali population in Mecca while agreeing with a tweet from another critic who objected to immigrants that claim the city as their home.

At least one commenter spoke out in defense of the young rapper and blasted her critics as bigots. She was covered, she didnt say anything offensive, tweeted Hamza Ma. Their problem with her is that she is black, they dont want to be represented by a black Saudi. If a white Arab person from another Arab country claimed to be from Hijaz they would clapping.

Hijaz is the western region of Saudi Arabia in which Mecca is located.

Saudi Arabia has sought to modernize under controversial Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salmans Saudi Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to bring tourism to the Middle Eastern nation by diversifying its offerings to include entertainment with a western bent. Little known fact that many people dont know about SA: they dont believe in shrines or sacred areas so they bulldoze around 80 or 90 percent of the holy relics of Mecca to build more parking lots and hotels for all the people coming to mecca. Now the city is mostly just hotels and parking lots. Pretty much the only thing to see in Mecca is that black rock. The only thing they don't dare destroy. They actually demolished Muhammad's wifes shrine or tomb or whatever and turned it into a public restroom
