worst part of the entire game. like an hour or more of basically being completely on rails punctuated with this shite mini game and, if you happen to care about that sort of thing, the worst card game bullshit in the game. fuck space.

If you get rid of the random rule i consider that card battle one of the best in the game.

random isn't the problem, random is fairly workable, it's the combination of random and plus and how annoying it is trying to get rid of one or the other!

This last playthrough the only rules that were in play were like Open and Elemental. I get to Lunar Space Station and every damn rule in the book is active. I always thought that was supposed to happen?

Needless to say it took me forever to get Alexander and Laguna. The only rule I could get the game to Abolish was Elemental. So yeah, had to win both cards with rando decks

space has every rule in play, but just like any other region in the game, if you turn up with a different set of rules in your last played, the players there will ask to mix rules. when you mix rules, there is always a chance to either:
  1. permanently introduce a rule the new area did not previously have
  2. permanently abolish a rule the old area did not have
so, with this in mind, it is always possible to abolish one rule before you start playing in space. personally, I always shoot for Plus, but if they get rid of Random first I'll.... usually just soldier on. Often spent like, 50 resets watching odine abolish elemental or some other shit before giving up and playing with both Random and Plus.

also if you get rid of Plus, Random is no issue at all - just refine ALL of your weak cards. They're all super easy to acquire again any time (and frankly, almost all of them are worth more refined than in your collection) and, without Plus in play, your strong cards are untouchable by any other player in the game.

well it's difficult to refine all of your weak cards since several of them require multiples to refine

but yeah if it's not a rare card I'll usually automatically refine it

There used to be some insanely long processs to abolish all rules even in disc 4. I believe it involved trekking back and forth between two towns

Nah it just involved how many screens you walked through before you challenged someone. Just had to keep changing it until you got the rule you wanted.
