I'm a sucker for cyberpunk, and this is a really underrated series. Glad they finally got around to releasing Season 2. It feels like a mix of Blade Runner and Deus Ex wrapped into one.

I loved the series originally but by the last quarter of the show my friends and I could not wait for it to be over.

I feel it lost something, I cant point out what though.

If you really like Cyberpunk you should check out Psycho Pass Season 1.

Loved the first season, almost stayed up late last night to catch at least the first episode of s2, but 3am wasn't happening.

Definitely jumping right in when I get home from work after I watch the new episode of Picard.

I really enjoyed the first season but the changes from the book were a little irritating at first. Now I just treat them as two separate works for the most part.

ive only read the first two, but is it true this season is based on the third book?

I'll start season 2 on Monday. Season 1 was great.

I thought Altered Carbon was so damn good, I am kinda disappointed that they are making a second season. Sometimes a story is best when it does not have a sequel. I prefer stories with endings, not ones that go on for multiple seasons.

That being said, still gonna watch it.

I have mixed impressions of this season. On one hand it gave me what I wanted as a continuation of the 1st season.
Sort of resolution with Jaeger.
The search for Quell.
Encountering an Elder.

On the other hand there were some stupid decisions needed on the part of characters in order for the plot to work.
Axley spent enough on Kovacs' sleeve to steal the design from the protectorate and add special upgrades, but not enough to make it untraceable as stolen protectorate property.
In 300 years Jaeger apparently never realized that it was sending Kovacs on a mission to kill his sister that made him question his loyalties.
Quell has no memory of making a bargain with an Elder, then when she does regain her memory doesn't mention it until after the Elder has been separated from her.

There are also issues with the setting itself and some established rules on how the technology works.
We know Meths have backups and those backups only become vulnerable during an upload. So how is the Elder destroying all backups at the same time when they should be isolated?
Further, if the Elder is accessing the upload then it should also be infecting the entire system that contains the DHF, not just deleting the targeted DHF.

Over halfway through the season, and even though it's not quite as compelling as S1 (so far), the story seems compelling (though a bit ham-fisted at times). It's like they're trying REALLY HARD not to re-tread the same ground as before.

Anxious to see how these "plot twists" come together.

Watching clone Kovacs get un-brainwashed by Falconer is quite satisfying. It also was nice to have more context into the devolving of the sister (which led to the actions of last season).

I miss the comic relief from the first season. Seems like S2 doesnt have any. Like S1 with the grandmother in the biker dude sleave was super funny.

Well, I finally finished watching S2, and I agree. This season was more heavy-handed. Ironically, even though they were more dark with the story, the graphic violence and nudity was toned down compared to S1, aside from when the Governor was re-spun up towards the end.

I guess Quell knew Kovacs would have still resisted her on upholding the deal anyway, so why bring it up. That was sorta beaten to death through the whole season, seeing how she purposefully kept secrets from him, knowing he would act out on his feelings rather than objectively looking at what's best for the situation.
