Board 8 > Looking For Help Making A Mario/Cloud 2002 Retrospective Video

Hey guys!

I run a Z-List YouTube channel about game design and analysis ( https://www.youtube.com/c/designingfor ), and I've been wanting to do a video on the classic Character Battles for a long while. I think it's just as important to the gaming conversation to bring in views on the culture surrounding gaming as it is going into pure game design, and after mulling it over, I really do feel like Mario/Cloud 2002 absolutely represents the height of the classic era and the scope of online video game fanbases (that wouldn't take a lot more set-up - Mario/Cloud is practically required reading for Mario/Crono, after all - potential sequel vid if all goes well?). And I just think it has the strongest non-Mario/Crono narrative through-line, with the build of Mario as the overall 1 seed, the Mario/DK SFF making Mario seem overwhelming at .a first glance, and the Sonic/Samus, Sephiroth/Mega Man, Cloud/Mario conga line of close matches, potential cheating, rallying, and hurt feelings.

I was wondering if there were any major resources other than the Wiki for looking into the match? I only got into the contests during the 2006 Series Contest, so everything beforehand is a bit of a blank spot, and I'd like to do the match proper justice rather than just regurgitating Ulti's PCA's. If anyone has any screencaps of the time or stats documented that they wouldn't mind sharing, I would really appreciate it! Or if anyone has any firsthand accounts, I'd be glad to quote and credit in the vid and link to whatever project you're working on in the description.

I'm hoping to get this released by mid to late April, so... hopefully we might have a contest going on by then? I know my channel doesn't have much in the way of subs at just 7K-ish, but MAYBE that'll inject some life into votals, however slight?

...however their first Contest was Games 2004. Most of the resources we eventually developed (the Oracle, Guru, and so forth) weren't really born until 2003 or 2004. Besides what's on the wiki, the only 2002 era thing on my site is the original Stats Topic

Interesting, I still don't think either Cloud or Link will make the final, but seeing as I've been wrong with most other things - don't trust me. I've got Sephy beating Snake in the final, and I'm still confident of that part of my bracket at least.
