How many of you guys got stuck?

I've come to terms with this level. I no longer hate it, but its definitely one of the weakest levels in S3&K (the other being Marble Garden, a level I actually hate)

I could never figure out that level for years. Got to that cylinder thing at the dead end and kept jumping trying to get it low enough.

Then one day in my aggravation I was pressing up and down and found out that was how you got out of there.

I hated myself.

Marble Garden is full of gotchas and lame gimmicks. Thank God when you get past them you get to play Ice Cap and Launch Base.
Sandopolis Act 1 is pretty good. Act 2 is way too goddamned long.

My issues with Marble Garden

- Spike badniks are placed in annoying spots, pretty much anytime you would need to jump at that moment
- Flails are placed in dickish spots, they make no sound until they are practically on screen (might be a tech thing?) They are by far the biggest hazard in the game
- The main gimmick is lame. the disk thingy hurls you towards danger (the stuff above), the hover part doesnt feel good. Its basically the playable cast + Death Egg ring path, but stupid

- Personally, I have the worst luck with the crushers, as Ive been glitch killed by them many times when they were clearly safe to go under. Shit give me anexity everytime I go under one
- The level is basically Metropolis, made by a asshole

I like the music and aesthetics, but cant stand playing it.

Not once in the game, hell not once in the entire Sonic series did you have to alternate between 2 buttons in rhythm to move a platform. Not once did you have to do it after that. that was the ONLY place you had to do it...why would they think people would just figure that out? Pressing up and down in rhythm wasn't something i even thought of because to that point its not something i ever had to do in a Sonic game.

I've started playing Sonic 3 & Knuckles recently for the first time in many, many years. Remember very little from the game. I just finished Carnival Night Zone the other night and that cylinder stumped me for a solid 2 minutes or so. I ended up brute forcing it with jumps instead of solving it the correct way. Probably my least favorite part of the game so far.

I actually really liked Marble Garden Zone. I've liked most of the zones in this game so far but I've just arrived at Sandopolis which I've heard horrible things about so we'll see. The only zone I've truly hated in a Sonic game is Oil Ocean.

I was stuck on this for weeks playing as a kid. I finally figured out a way to clip through the wall by obtaining the bubble shield and bouncing rapidly next to the wall on the right. I never understood how to get through it the right way until I was an adult lol.

The only zone I really disliked in S3&K was Sandopolis, and that only held for Act 2. It's not the gimmick of having to access light levers to fend off the darkness and ghosts, I had absolutely no problem with it in Sonic Mania's Oil Ocean. No, something about that act rubs me the wrong way in all sorts.

As for Carnival Night, on the contrary, I'd probably call it one of my favorite zones in the game. Apart from Act 2 being a tad too long and that infamous barrel, I never had any problems with it. Some people seem to dislike Marble Garden but I pretty much liked that place as well, only gripe would be the boss fight, especially if it's a Tails solo run.

If anything, I found Ice Cap to be bland and uninteresting.

I got stuck on it for a few years. I think in fifth grade I had a friend who told me how to finally get past it? That would have been 1998, so I'm guessing like three years I got stuck.
