wish i could use a backpack. the local safeway has a policy of not allowing backpacks in the store.
might be due to theft.

When someone inevitably posts the whole "reusable bags have a worse carbon footprint than single use plastic bags" please refer them to this article:

Agreed. I was thinking of that. This is going to be a huge headache for certain stores.
Eventually, though, the stores are going to have to bend a little.
It should be interesting to see how it pans out.
In a year it will all seem like no big deal.

I can actually remember when Seat Belts were made compulsory.

Instead of a ban, it should've been an incentive, like getting a discount for using a reusable bag, or something.

People like discounts.

Minneapolis does this. You can still get a plastic bag, but you have to pay for them now. 5 cents a piece, but still. And no straws usually.

It is 10 a bag in California.

It was but there was no publicity behind it, most cashers just didn't care enough to mention it.

Yea its funny when people see this happening in a new state and get mad lol. We did it here at any grocery store or a store that sells food (like Target) and its been fine. Reusable bags work perfectly. But I use them for trash bags!...oh well. Guess youll have to spend 2 bucks on a roll of garbage bags. Oh no.

It's 10 cents per plastic bag in Stockton, but they're not banned. Is it different in your city?

I just got back from another beer run.

I asked the girl at the counter, who's ((pretty cute, super fair-skinned black eyeliner and cute voice)) if they even still had bags, she said no. They actually shipped them all off to Vermont, where the ban hasn't go into effect yet. Which I guess would make sense.

I'm glad I still have a few because they are really good bags from camping and stuff.
RIP, Ye Olde Stewart's bags.

They banned plastic bags in SF awhile ago and now they're using recyclable plastic bags.

Let's be clear: this regulation was made solely to cause problems where there once were none, hit people with yet another tax so the government can enrich itself on the backs of the people, deprive people of choice, and abuse government power to lord it over you with a day-to-day reminder that big brother exists solely to make your lives a bit more difficult each day.

Our politicians do not care about us.

What is the best way to bring your bags?

I often buy a bunch of stuff so carrying 20-30+ bags around the store sounds like a pain.

Put the bag at the bottom of your cart.

I was just posting in jest, but the reality of it is the damage is already done and minor efforts like this won't change that. It's just pointless now. Sit back and watch the planet burn.
