Mario Galaxy 2 has not aged well nor was it ever very strong, and will lose to Witcher.

Considering SFF, that being the year HGSS came out, and HGSS probably naturally being a bit weaker (I don't think by much, people LOVED HGSS compared to the other two major remakes), I like to think "could anyone in the lower half beat this number, or at least plus or minus 1% of it, on Majora?" is the benchmark.

Post-Netflix Witcher's the only thing I have confidence in doing that. Though I'll probably flop between it and Pokemon repeatedly.

I've got Witcher edging out Skyrim through a combination of its Netflix boost and Bethesda's reputation tanking recently.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't think Nintendo games are going to particularly dominate this contest outside of BOTW and Ultimate.

I don't follow Pokemon all that closely, but didn't the newest set of games, Sword/Shield, generate a fair bit of controversy and criticism? I feel like that might hurt the series here a bit.

The people who played HG/SS loved it. I wonder how many of them did. I think the lost strength would be noticeable.

(And Skyrim secretly finished higher in the adjusted X-Stats than the real Gold/Silver in 2015 anyway)

I think Skyrim. Like despite how much Bethesda has sucked recently Skyrim as a whole has remained pretty much unscathed. It still has a massive following and is pretty much an example of a company doing almost everything right when it came to a game, including things like free HD upgrades for people who had the game already when the special version came out etc.

I was going to put withcer 3 but Skyrim is just too powerful. Huge modding scene still going strong.

Are you seriously saying Skyrim or Witcher can't take it out? Witcher 3 is way strong now than when it first came out. MUCH stronger. It consistently wins "best game" polls on xbox or PS4 boards whenever they have them. Yes thats a small pool of users but don't underestimate it

Don't also underestimate Persona 5.

Pokemon I'm very skeptical about.

Eh, there's no way of telling for sure. But you could theorize that SBAllen just wanted one Pokemon game in the bracket to have some diversity and not just be a bracket full of Nintendo games. He states in the contest rules that the bracket was a mixture of editorial decision and audience vote.

I'm just saying...Heart Gold/SS aren't going to be this force people think. They aren't the original games. And the fact that Allen chose Remakes over newer games shows how very poorly the new games did as far as nominations.

If i had a bunch of pokemon games released past decade surely you pick one thats representative of that decade. Something like a Sun/Moon or X/Y. But no its a remake that came out back in 2010 or whatever. He must have looked at the numbers and just laughed. Otherwise he would have picked HG and 1 more pokemon game. YOu're allowed to have mroe than 1 game from a series. Mario has like 3.

Pokemon is just weak now. IT will always do well in character battles due to nostalgia and so wil the Gameboy games. Anythign post Ruby is weak sauce

Heart gold will have some strength. But lets be real here. It's not beating Witcher or Skyrim. I'd put it below Persona 5 too. Especially considering Royal is going to be out when this contest hits.

There's zero reason to believe Allen only allowed one Pokemon game. If you believe he did cap series, all the others have two. It's more likely that the other Pokemon games just LFF'd each other too much and so none of them made it.
