This, hell at one of my jobs (which is a server gig) the boss doesn't care if we smoke it. That said half the people that do end up doing stupid shit or not functioning correctly. Not everyone can handle their weed intake. Its better to be safe than sorry on this one and I say that as someone who does it regularly.

It's always gonna be ass backwards because regardless of who is in charge they care more about their comfort and continued personal gain in the short term than change that could be for the good of most in the long term if it doesn't yield some kind of instant gratification / benefit. What's your stance on alcohol? From my experience people who abuse alcohol are more destructive than people who smoke weed.

Also, people who smoke weed in states where it's legal recreationally aren't criminals.

You can fight it. They just dont have to hire you. If you dont want to be piss tested, then dont. Just find a job that wont piss test you. There are jobs that dont care. Since I dont do drugs, I can care less. They can puss test me all they want...

sure, but thats only if you do something stupid. You dont get randomly called in and tested for alcohol. If you show up sober, you can drink all the alcohol you want, so its not the same thing.

Anyone defending this is an absolute bootlicker.

Even in Canada before weed was legalized companies could only get away with getting you drug tested in the absolute, most extreme scenarios (like for example you're a commercial pilot, and you being impaired can lead to catastrophic loss of life). For your regular office job they would literally never win a human rights challenge unless they had actual proof you were showing up to work drunk/high or doing it at work.

The US' policy on testing is absolutely fucked.

As a former user who still has no problem with people using, the problem is the current testing methods. Do you want to take a chance that the crane operator doing work on the building in your city is completely sober from Sunday night's smoke session? This makes sense for anyone operating equipment, but again, if we just had a way to test on the spot like we do with alcohol, this could all go away.

Some places do. Not all, but some do. The problem is being able to test it long term. With drugs, you can test to see when they last did it. In many jobs, youre fired if the test showed you did drugs at any point after having the job. With alcohol, its much more difficult because once youre sober, its can be harder to prove you drank anything at all... From what I know, at least. If they could test long term, some places might have their own policies for that in place.

Though, that being said, it would still depend on the law and policies of said company. While marijuana is legal in many places now, it was illegal for a while. So, many companies had, and still have, a policy against it. You can fight companies against it, but probably wont will. And since so many places are at will employment, they could technically fire you for anything anyway... Plus, its still illegal federally, I believe... Which brings in other problems...

Yeah. They can do that. At will employers can fire anybody for pretty much any reason. And can deny people for whatever reasons they want, as far as I know. They can even fire you for not liking you. So, if they want to test you puss before hiring you, they can. Sometimes, its just company policy. Sometimes, its because of something that happened before. It doesnt really matter. If you value your privacy to not be tested that much, then find a place that doesnt test you. They dont have to change the rule because you dont like them...
