At heart, I'm in favor of legalizing weed though I've never smoked it. The practical side of me says that it should remain illegal and simply be a $10 to $20 fine for every time the user gets caught with it. Those who smoke weed as a harmless means of rebellion against the law might start putting stuff into their bodies which is actually harmful.

Better to let a 17 year old boast to his friends about how a "fucking pig" hit him with a $20 fine than it is to have that kid start doing PCP or heroin to show he's not afraid to break the law.

Weed will be legalized. It will happen within the next decade be it states legalizing it one by one or the country legalizing it first. While I don't see Trump or Biden pulling the trigger that might be outside their control. Biden is more likely to suddenly change his mind to "save face."
