Time and time again young people have supported Bernie but when the time comes to actually show up and vote they ghost. Why is this?

I've also noticed many zoomers don't even know what a primary is WTF??

Young voters are under the impression that their vote doesn't matter (and they're mostly right).

Because our system is designed to disenfranchise its most beat-up citizens such that the status quo is maintained

Our education system masturbates to the Constitution and the righteousness of Women's Suffrage and the Civil Rights Act but NOBODY TEACHES US HOW TO VOTE IN OUR DEMOCRACY

Not to mention voting is most often on school/work days and people who most need the system to change may literally not be able to afford the convenience of voting

If you have to be taught how to vote you're not a functional adult. My mentally disabled sister can vote.

Also, voting sites are open for 14 hours.

I see a lot of excuses. I know my generation well (millenial) and we really are a bunch of apathetic lazy fucks. Well at least in America, the youth in other countries give me some hope for the future.

The state shouldnt be teaching you how to vote. That's how dictatorships start.

You may want to delete that and rethink the implications of what you just typed. @Duncanwii

But yeah, when there's so many things tailor made to discourage the youth vote.... I understand why some of them don't believe their vote matters.

It's a shame because that's exactly the mentality assholes want to keep their status quo. Some of them literally being unable to get a day off work/school to vote is an issue as stated above. You can say "Just vote early!" but some undecided people may hold off on that to get more info....

As an older millennial, I've already completed college and finally found a good stable career. This apathy for the democratic process is going to hurt you younger folks much more than it will hurt me.

You can blame universal suffrage and democracy for that. Its impossible for individual votes to matter amongst a popualtion so big, and trying to appease a country of so many is next to impossible.

This is why the Democrats have resorted to trying to offer free everything. It's just a sad attempt at trying to appease as broad a demographic as possible. Unfortunately such handouts only benefit the low class and poor. Who arent the fucking majority, have no money to support them, nor give a damn about anything aside from their current benefits to actually get out and vote.

younger people are pickier when they vote for someone. their opinion can easily be swayed with just one or two bad statements. if you mostly agree with someone, but don't fully agree with them, you're less likely to vote for them.

also just overall lack of knowledge. unless you take the time to research policies on your own (and most younger people have absolutely no desire to do this), you don't really know exactly what you're voting for.

and then just laziness and/or their attention being completely self-centered on their own personal lives and successes.
