The only thing that significantly hurt him was losing caucuses/primaries.

And literally every time he says something or is on screen.

He's only as strong as he is because most people haven't seen him talk for an extended period of time in years, thus him winning the places he didn't campaign in as a nebulous generic safe Democrat.

Biden's strength would decline with every week until November as he's forced to put himself out there and people realize "oh...its Joe Biden..."

It's honestly in his best interest and his best chance at winning to go hide in a cabin in the woods for 6 months.

A Warren endorsement would have/would go a long way!

Shes really letting us down.

To tangent really quick. Remember that New York Times article about Chapo Trap House, where the other said Chapo reminds her of having to pretend to like Jackass?

Bam Margera dunked on her for it (in a respectful, but hilarious way)

It sunk him for 30 years! The only reason its working now is that the media has convinced people hes the only hope to defeat Trump.

And I 100% mean this, because he is not an inspirational guy, he cant really talk policy. Hes got residual Obama energy, and people are counting on it being enough.

My point was more that #IfNotMeUs, lol in the sense that Im 1 guy, and if youre open to the idea of being dissuaded from Bernie by a Bro, there are an innumerable amount of faceless and anonymous trolls who have already been and will continue to be used as a reason to not support him.

It turns out, when a candidate runs on the issues, anyone who cares less about issues than emotions is prime to be against you.

As an example, I point to Clyburn in South Carolina, who literally have an interview saying Biden talks too much policy and needs to focus on feeling.

Biden. Too much policy.

We absolutely cannot overcome that with OUR emotions, we have to speak to our base and hope its enough.

Here's the thing though, to the person you drove away, you weren't just a random "bro". You were someone he at least knew and had a history with in this very topic series. Maybe he still would've voted Biden. But you pushed him towards it with your constant anti-Warren sentiment. WHICH, as I point out, might've been 100% entirely pointless.

She did drop out right after Super Tuesday. She might still endorse him.

And if she does you lost Sanders a vote for nothing. Just...be cool, man. Go after Biden all you want. Leave the corpses be and be nice to people who are choosing between the two.

And to reiterate, every candidate has been clinging to these numbers and its just a big pile of spin garbage. Every single candidate pretty much beats Trump on a national level and it means nothing because barring the candidate having a stroke or something Trump is going to lose the popular vote by more than he did in 2016.

The only candidates with a chance right now in key battleground states are the two remaining with probably a slight insignificant edge to Biden but at this point in the race I'd mostly ignore the numbers and say whoever wins the most delegates will probably be the best for turnout in the general(aka put up or shut up young/old people).

I think people forget Biden has always been a pretty good politician. The comparison to Hillary, as far as electability, has always been completely unfounded. A good chunk of it is because he's male, but people actually tend to not hate him.

Also as far as debates go whatever drugs they've had him on work way better than what he had for the text Joe to whatever debacle. (I'd be surprised if any candidate weren't on Adderall or similar for those debates, tbh).

His exact quote was like "I'll find myself searching for a second, and that's just a mistake I'm making, I don't think of myself that way" And then he explained that his stutter involved stammering and repetition, which he doesn't do anymore.

Not stuttering doesn't mean that the problem's totally gone away, it means he's worked through how to mostly deal with it. One common strategy stutterers use to get past a word they're stuck on is to substitute a different word, and I think that that's a lot more likely to be what's happening here than forgetting the name of the guy he worked with for eight years and namedrops every other sentence.

He says that because he doesn't want people to dismiss him as unfit to be president because he stutters. That's exactly the attitude he got from MichelBollinger in this topic!

Yes, he avoids stammering and repetition by certain strategies he's learned and developed over the decades. Such as using different words. I'm in a similar boat where most people who've only known me in the last say, 5 years don't know about my stutter unless I've told them. It's completely normal to try to hide something embarrassing like that.

even if i'm wrong, that perception is probably only going to build since he'll probably keep doing that "stutter" at times. the impression that a presidential candidate is going senile is just as damaging as actually going senile.

if he ends up as the nominee, welcome another 4 years of trump

My explanation is that Biden doesn't have the diehards that Hillary did.

Additionally, a Biden nomination is like the one person who gives an incumbent President Trump his "me versus the Swamp" narrative again.

Then there are Biden's other major weaknesses, like bragging about wanting to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Veteran's benefits FOUR TIMES. The GOP could put that speech on repeat in Florida and win 75% of the vote, and that's without Trump's inherent bump he gets for all the time he spends here.

Biden also has the Hunter/Burisma problem, which for all intents and purposes gives the APPEARANCE of impropriety, which undercuts the same attack against Trump.

Lastly, Biden's extremely obvious problem with speaking, which undercuts the ability to use Trump's gaffes against him.

hillary won the popular vote against trump and biden is way better than her. why would trump blow him away?

not saying you're wrong but an explanation would be nice.

Clarification: I am talking about the electoral college only. 2016 was not really close in the EC (over 300 EVs for the winner can't be called close). I think Trump gets more than the 306 he got against Hillary against Biden, probably substantially more.

As for why Trump will do better against Biden than Hillary, that's because 1) Trump is now an incumbent, 2) the economy is really strong, and 3) many of Trump's voters were first-time Republican voters in 2016 who will find it much easier to pull the lever for the GOP a second time. The first time is the hardest.

The gap between Biden and Hillary is probably small, and not necessarily in Biden's favor. I know the Texas x-stats comparison through Bernie says he's way stronger, but the California x-stats say just about the opposite, and neither of those states is relevant in any case.

Please. Trump went on a Republican debate stage full of people who want to cut Medicare and Social Security and said he refused to cut them. He went as far as to insist that Planned Parenthood does great things (just not with regard to abortions). Biden cozies up to the GOP at every opportunity because he believes the only way he can achieve anything is to surrender to them.
