The sounds good but wouldn't the bag and stuff still potentially be infected? They still touched it with their hands to get it to you and presumably the virus survives on surfaces for some amount of time longer than the 30 seconds it takes you to go get it.

do most people tip? I always tip drivers but according to drivers on reddit the majority of deliveries they do they dont see a tip

and they also say that when someone says Ill tip you in the app that its a sure sign that they wont tip

Ive had like 55 total deliveries and only 3 havent tipped (two were like 18-20 year olds, and one was a 14 year old girl)

depending on the restaurants and the amount of food they order, I get nice tips. Ive gotten 12$ tips atleast 3-4 times, but its usually a 3-5$ tip.

And with DoorDash, the customer basically adds the tip when they originally order (As the driver, you accept the delivery, and you see the combined earnings youll receive, but you cant see which part is the tip and which is the base pay until after its delivered) For the 12$ tips though, they all happened right after I dropped off the food, because my earnings jumped up like 6$+ than what it originally said. (maybe I delivered it fast or they just liked me.)

strangely enough, when they give me big tips, door dash alerts me that the tip was higher than the average delivery, so we lower the base pay (my earnings for delivery) by a couple dollars to adjust. That doesnt sound fair, but whatever. Its only a couple dollars after a big tip

I dont use these services but tipping is absolutely a reason to carry cash, even in 2020. I want you guys to get your tips without jumping through hoops or deal with bullshit like DD stealing your wages because somebody was feeling extra generous. Cash tips means doordash, etc doesnt need to know about it.

OR they could just charge a little more, pay the driver a little more, and get rid of tips.

Yeah as other drivers that Im friendly with have said, getting cash tips is way better because we get the whole tip. But almost nobody tips with cash.

Its not a very big deal but its definitely insulting

Every time Ive used uber, as we're about done with the ride I mention will be tipping cash with no app tip. Its usually in one dollar bills(go figure) which might annoy some, however you arent getting any fees taken out and the company you work for doesnt know so they cant steal your wages.

I just think its kinda shitty this stuff happens

Yeah I know the grocery store near us delivers and they basically eat 10 bucks from any tip done digitally so if you tip 15 bucks, the driver only gets 5 of it. Less than 10 and they got nothing at all from the tips. They also don't mention to the drivers how much the tips were or how much is being taken out but it wasn't hard to figure out.

It should be illegal to take tips from the person who got tipped.
