So they can focus on the content of the post rather than the individual who posted it. This will be a much cleaner way to focus on TOU violations.

Calm down, man. It's just a dying websight. No need to have a melty over CE.

Yep. Also mods should not be anonymous, and vote counts should be displayed. It should be required that 90% of mods agree with a moderation for it to take effect. Im serious. If say, 20% of mods disagree with something that indicates a serious issue

Often times mods will have to go to the original topic to make a judgment on the full context of the moderation.

Therefore there's no point to this idea.

Stop breaking the rules, Caution.

SBAllen just needs to take some time to clear out the bad mods. Might take some of his time away, but I assume he enjoys working from home, and if he continues to let horrible moderators go unchecked, then eventually it will affect his ability to continue doing the job.

Trying to play peacekeeper isn't against the TOU and is far from trolling, but you do you.

Or rather, the other way around. Don't hide the mods' names.

Keep everything as public and transparent as possible. "Post removed by [moderator] for [reason] at [datetime]. Reported by [user], [user], [user], and [user]." and "Moderation voted upheld by [mod], [mod], and [mod]. Voted overturned by [mod] and [mod]."

I respectfully disagree. We all know this is just gonna flip the issue around and people are going to start holding vendettas against certain moderators and there could be harassment because of this.

Has been brought up dozens of times and literally has no point other than opening the mod for harassment.

I would agree, but you can't flip it around for it to be a complete disadvantage for the moderation team. We're looking for more fairness here. Not less. Fairness for everyone; including the mods.

Yeah, this is an extremely terrible idea, especially showing who reported the moderations. All that does is give vindictive people targets for harassment. Allowing the "snitches" to get their "stitches" so to speak.

Oh, Melty's Caution?

It explains why the gimmick went to shit so fast. No one on that stupid fucking subreddit can keep up gimmick accounts, their contempt for other users shows up after like a week and the whole thing falls apart.

Can't wait for this to turn into another "free speech" battle against the mods. What a waste of a perfectly fine gimmick account

Exactly. We do have to protect the people who volunteer to review moderations (for free mind you). I mean, they are doing a service for the website.

Nah. Tons of message boards do that, and the only time I see shit get out of hand is when the moderator or moderators in question actually deserve it. And that's the whole point...it keeps the mods in check.

Not a bad point...I don't know. There's a lot of people here that complain about totally fair moderations though.

I think the thing about Gamefaqs is that the rules are more strict to the point where moderations do wind up ruffling some feathers.

So I can see how it wouldn't be feasible for a board where it's been decided to be fairly strict. It would result in as many situations where people are pissed at mods when it's not the mods fault as it would help keep any mods in check that actually need it.

Don't hide the mods' names. Keep everything as public and transparent as possible.

This was how I ran my community board, and it was good enough for the users. But bizarrely, not good enough for the mod staff even though I was way more transparent than them. And nobody outside the moderators ever harassed me, so that's not an issue.

But yeah it was really weird to see them go at me like they did with the "you, you, YOU" blame for everything, even if a former mod backed me up and said I was in the right. And all that time I was getting grief on Hellhole, all I could think was "these are the same people who refused to sign up to moderate my board because they didn't want any responsibility whatsoever." That was a massive double standard.
