Can you imagine once were in the age of biological warfare at this scale? If things dont change and some other country someone gets their hands on the means to disseminate highly contagious diseases easily, we are all FUCKED. Holy shit our economy and workforce has no answer to this.

Isnt that number of people that die incredibly high once you factor in the billions of people in the world?

The thing about viruses that have a high mortality rate is that they usually have a hard time also being very contagious

They cant really spread around if their host is dead

We probably wont actually have an accurate number for at least a couple years, and thats only if we start large scale testing to see how many people have the virus but dont develop symptoms

Except you dont see signs for two weeks so you get to walk around others for two weeks in this case.

Im not worried, personally. Ive been seconds away from being crushed and cool as a cucumber. Literally two seconds longer I would have probably been cut in half with the ramp of a moving truck. I just asked someone else calmly to go stop the driver of the truck.

3.4% not 2%

Still far low enough to not panic but high enough to take precautions and get a pneumonia shot

Not as high as you think. Not every one of those billions of people is going to get it. That's why you can't go by any of these percentages right now, you can't be sure what factors they are going off of.

The numbers would have likely been lower if it happened now, the Spanish Flu hit from 1918-1920 medical science was in a much more primitive state.

It seems the worst aspect of this thing is how many people it may figure to put into hospitals.

That was also because it was hitting people who were in WW1, which wasn't exactly... sanitary conditions.

You do realize that, even if it's 3.4%, that's 11,180,00 people who could DIE from this? Would you be so lighthearted if you or someone you cared about was among that number?

Saying to take precautions is lighthearted now?
