Like it just feels kind of surreal for something like this to happen in this day and age. This kind of worldwide catastrophic event is like totally unheard of. and it's testing the strengths of our infrastructure, economies, social everything, production of entertainment, production of food etc etc

it honestly does feel like it's kind of a major shift in the direction of society as a whole and it's frankly fucking fascinating

Most of the big threats here are irrational panic reactions and the ramifications they'll bring.

But, it'll all be fine

Like, this is literally a common enemy to everyone. Something that affects the entire population in some way, be it fear or reactions to other's fear. And since it affects literally every person, it's a world changing event. And since society changes to fit the world, this event literally changed our trajection as a species. It's something everyone can relate to. It'll be an event able to be understood by everyone, because everyone was THERE

EVERYONE. ALL CREATIONS OF THE HUMAN RACE FROM THIS POINT FORWARD WILL HAVE SOME INFLUENCE BY THIS PANDEMIC. EVERYTHING IS FILTERED BY THE COVID

EVERYTHING IS THE COVID FROM HENCE FORWARD

ALWAYS. AND FOR ALL TIME

Well, hopefully it will be an embarrassing side note of overreaction in history.

I guess that's pretty deep. I'm glad I came up with it.

This is what itll feel like if we have an alien invasion

No, I think he's right. It doesn't have to kill a big chunk of the planet to be notable. It's pretty big for a time where we figured a bunch of shit put to not make it common. I say "we" lol. Like I had help or something. I figured it out.

People who lived through the Great Depression were a lot more careful with money and distrustful towards optimism about economic institutions than generations after. They were used to scarcity and didn't take the abundance of the Baby Boom for granted, at least stereotypically. I think this generation will be much more germ conscious than previous ones. Coughing in public will probably make people uncomfortable for a while.

I've always been one to tease my friends about not washing their hands especially before eating, it's sad that it took a literal pandemic to get people to be clean and aware of what they touch.

I used to get teased for being "OCD" and a germaphobe but when my friends realized they got cold/flu way more often than I did, it dawned on them that they were the dumbasses. I actually had to teach some of them how to properly wash their hands because they would just squirt soap and quickly rinse it off. We're talking about grown ass adults almost in their 30s smh.

It will probably do some significant damage to certain industries like cruise ships and indoor playgrounds. May even be the beginning of the end for movie theaters.

Although it will probably be remembered mostly as a case study in how the advancements of social media effected group behavior and may give rise to slick terms like panic culture.

Also, the old idiom of getting milk and bread before an impending disaster will now also include toilet paper.
