Let's assume that most voters won't be motivated by bracket votes, first of all.

Personally, I generally vote for the one I think I would like more, just based on my gaming history. First priority would be a game in the same series as one I liked. For example, I haven't played Dead Space 2, but I enjoyed the first one so I'll vote for that over Spiderman. I guess the genre and company play a role too.

Familiarity isn't always a good thing, though. Sometimes I'll vote against a game I've played, even though I haven't played its opponent. I haven't played Overwatch, but I disliked Death Stranding, so I'll be voting against that.

well that's silly because they will be

but if they don't have brackets then they'll vote for the one they've at least heard of or the one that has the reputation for being a good game
