A lot of people out there are buying up Hand Sanitizer. One thing people should realize is that Hand Sanitizer is not a replacement for soap and water. Soap actually breaks down the proteins of the virus. It's essential to wash your hands if you want to really be clean

Hopefully the people stocking up on Hand santizer understand this..

Its not true, any soap is fine. these viruses are have fat soluble membranes, not like bacteria where extra agents are needed

Who said it was? It's just harder to bust out soap & water while out in public. You can carry sanitizer/wipes wherever.

I thought soap in itself wasn't a solution against germs but instead acted as a way for water to remove germs, kind of like oil in water.

It's not. Literally all soap is designed to remove fatty oils from your skin.
