I can't get this out of my head. The house passed an emergency bill on friday (which even the president liked btw) and now on to the senate. Nope, mconnel sends everyone in the senate home for the weekend. Any bill won't be voted on until...monday night!

I know I'm not overexaggerating but that ass either doesn't understand the definition of emergency. Either that or HE DOESNT CARE.

The most honest thing I've ever heard from a politician is from Sanders. Says his first priority is to take out that evil cockroach that has been destroying kentucky for 30 years. I can't imagine the amount of things he could go to jail for. Of course he's part of that supreme court clique so dems would need a full 60 seat senate and 2/3 of the house which is basically impossible. But just the thought of it, I literally might vote just because sanders was vocal on that.

At the very least the two rapists on the court need to go along with the one where they stole obama's appointment. This is all just dreams that won't happen, but man they're nice dreams.

What rider is causing him to stonewall the whole thing? Is it an abortion provision? Some sort of minimum wage hike? If Trump suppports it then the only reason I could see him blocking it is if a bunch of unrelated crap got shoved in because everyone knows it "has" to pass.

What I'd note is that the bill Democrats passed has massive gaps in it, presumably to earn the approval of Republican senators.

Here's the details on the original bill that was being blocked (note: Media Bias Fact Check lists this site as right-center, but with a HIGH rating for factual accuracy):

It looks like the primary concern is that requiring small employers to offer paid sick leave to employees for up to 12 weeks and paying them back next year via tax credits would cause a significant number of small businesses to go bankrupt, and Republicans were pushing back to revise the bill so it would offer more immediate cash incentives to those business to cover costs.

From the article:

While important, a refundable tax credit may not be enough to overcome liquidity challenges of the current crisis for every business; for instance, a business required to pay sick leave may not have enough cash on hand at the time, even though it would get it back in the form of a credit later.

So while it's fun to just dance around going "all republicans are evil" even though this bill had bipartisan and presidential support, it's at least worth noting that the concerns being voiced over the original version of the bill are real issues that need resolving, and that maybe it's possible the first draft coming out of the house had some critical flaw that made it worth a second draft.

The biggest issue is, IMO, that amidst all this congress is going on 2 weeks recess starting next week because no matter how hard they pretend they consider this a real emergency, it's apparently not real enough to justify actually working.
