Not really, if you look at the candidate closest to Trump in 2016, Bernie was probably closer to him than any of the other republican candidates. If you just go on what they said that is, not necessarily how we've seen Trump perform after getting into office.

Trump ran on a bizarre mishmash of policies that were not typically associated with republicans; he shit on free trade, directly courted union voters, and made some wild claims on health care when most republican politicians were shitting on health care.

Also I'm sure some chunk of them didn't think he would actually win. He doesn't get the benefit of the doubt a second time.

I really question the validity of that survey

Have you actually looked at Bidens policy stances? Hes more moderate than Bernie but still has a lot of progressive plans to reform things in the country

There are a lot of republicans who are poor and not in an economically secure place. Bernie was resonating with those people and when he failed to secure the nomination those republicans turned to the republican nominee who continued to speak to their concerns. This should not have been surprising.

Biden/Hillary was the DNC/cable news cherrrypick. They were also corrupt.

Bernie/Trump were the shunned candidates, though Trump turned out not much better or worse than a Hillary.

Yeah I might just vote Trump just to say fuck you to the DNC. What do I care. The Obama administration also bombed brown people, also kept immigrant kids in cages, and also deregulated the market. The only benefit to one of them is if Trump wins then the Democrats are sent the message that they can't just be well mannered politically correct Republicans. A Joe Biden would maybe cut our C02 emissions by like... 2%. His plan has like 1/50 the funding Bernie's does.

Also they basically ignore our votes. Voter suppression activist groups will basically tell you they catch votes flipping to Biden/Hillary more often than we or they know about (on top of the times we do know about) to the extent where a progressive candidate could never win in states without voter validation methods. Progressive gets more votes? Flip more votes. Why would I support the group that steamrolls mine in the most illegitimate way possible?

The DNC is so corrupt I have to wonder if progressives would have a better shot running as a Republican. Keep the policies, change the name.

And hey, the orangutan was kept in place from bombing random countries that the Pentagon didn't want him to bomb. He even had a little play date with Kim Jung Un, how cute!

The DNC will never learn this lesson. If they were capable of learning from their mistakes, they would have figured this out after 2016. Instead they've decided to do 2016 over again.

Hey, 2 times is more a pattern than 1. And 3 is more than 2. Kids aren't getting less progressive, that's for sure.

They also are less effective at preventing progressive Representatives and Senators from getting elected.
